so the ratchet slips and do not engage immediately?
It may be used wrong grease?
I usually use grease in the splines but PFTE oil in the ratchet teeth

My experience with D272 hub is fantastic but I really took care about my ratchet babies!

I haven't had a chance to crack it open yet, so letting it stew in a bit of moisture it picked up.
it was very quiet from the get-go which is sus. it has the ground springs, not the newer DT SWISS-like "basic" springs. will relube carefully w/ptfe and report back on the findings.

I notice a new shop (newbike store) with great prices (Goldix M370 @28€ for a rear 12*142 32H XD drive, 36t ratchet) so I took the offer.
I have a set of 54t ratchet at home and some XDR/HG bodies I can swap and combine to build a reliable hub.

The only complain is the centerlock brake but I have some adapters

opened it up and wiped everything down - it had some dirt inside the ratchet engagement splines on the freehub side after one wet ride, but the bearings were fine. the ratchet ground spring does not look symmetrical, so I flipped it and lubed everything with dumond classic. sounds ok now but I haven't tested engagement under similar conditions yet.
also, strangely enough the orange ano alu freehub body is either too long or my sensa 11-sp cassette carrier was out of spec because there was play before i added a 2mm spacer. everything's so hit and miss with AE in my experience.

If you need a 2mm spacer I would suspect you are using the wrong cassette on the wrong freehub...

Yep, I agree.
DT swiss style road and mtb freehub are slightly different in the cassette body and end cap.
I'm pretty sure the whole system can work evenwithout the orange support
