IP-256SL questions.
« on: November 05, 2014, 02:21:53 AM »
I like the look of ip-256sl A lot but need to figure out some tings first before purchase.

Will the frame support 36T cog with race face next sl crank? Does anyone have an picture of clearance between cog and frame in size 32T or 34T.
In some forums I've road that is does and in some that is doesn't.

What is standover height in size 21?

Did you read this topic: http://chinertown.com/index.php/topic,150.msg2197.html#msg2197
(I know it's not a Next SL crank)

Maybe it gives an answer to your question ?

Yes I just read the topic and it looks pretty tight fitting a sram 36T looking at the pictures. Sram has 49mm vs race face 51mm offset chainline.

The standover height in the middle of toptube is 88 cm.

88cm sounds very big. Size 21 are usually between 81-84cm with the big brands.

I did measure in the middle of the toptube if you measure near the headset it will probably be around 92 cm and near the saddle around 84 cm.

Thanks kuipino, do you have any pic of your 21' ?
I see some have done custom painting of frame. How much did this cost ? Did iplay comp with alternative paintjobs or did your figure this out self ? :-)

Has anyone actually tried to fit xx1 34T or 36T :-) if yes, I would line to picture of it. Looking at pictures with 32T is hard to see clearance for bigger cog. It's vital for purchase.

there has been talk elsewhere and 32-34 looks to be the largest for the 256 without some spacers.

I have a 34 spider less on my xo1 and a 36 would fit no problem

Spiderless rings, are a bit farther away from the frame, isn't it?
Adding some mm to the chain line.

Can't you just put a 32 on the front and go with smaller rings on the cassette to get the same ratios?  Plus it would shave off about 5 g :)
