Open Mould Time Trial / Triathlon Frames
« on: December 30, 2021, 08:03:41 PM »
Hi everyone!

Following the success of my first road bike build, I am looking into purchasing a time trial / triathlon frame from one of the popular vendors.
I would love to use all Chinese products ( sensah groupset, wheels, etc)

Has anyone done this?

Built a bike using all Chinese parts, or specifically a TT/Tri bike using all Chinese parts?  I've done the former, save for Shimano shift housing

Build a tt bike with Chinese components.

I've already built a road bike.

Cool project. What’s your shortlist of frames? (Which by extension determines whether it’ll be run or disc, I suppose)
1X or 2X?

Seems entirely doable.

I don't have a shortlist. That's the issue. The TT frames are nearly 2x the price of road Frames.

I would run a 1x.

I could get this frame for about 500$.

I don't know about the handlebars or the compatibility with the sensah Groupset.

Looks like the only Barcons on Ali are Shimano compatible. As far as I know Sensah uses SRAM ratios. This would leave you with LTWOO  (or MicroNEW, I suppose)

Have you found a good crankset? I was never able to find one. In the end, I just got a crankset based PM, and killed two birds with one stone.

For 1X, I would recommend Passquest.  I have not had a single drop using their 48T ring.  I hear Stone is good too, bit I've never used.

What shifters would you use? I would prefer Sensah too but that is SRAM ratio so microshift bar end shifters probably won’t work.

actually if you are thinking of running 1X...... this might work with Sensah https://www.microshift.com/models/bs-sr-m11-r/

If you are running 2x, I think Shimano pull ratio might work with the front derailleur?

Although I think if you went with LTWoo R9 (2x11) derailleur it will give you the most compatibility which should work with Shimano or microshift (Shimano version) bar end shifter.
