Author Topic: Looking for 19" 29er HT, threaded BB, 100mm fork geo, 1000-ish grams  (Read 1523 times)

Been away from the site a long time, and was hoping to get a headstart on my search.

Is there an open mold 29er HT carbon frame with threaded BB and geo designed for a 100mm fork? I have a CS057, and would like a 27.2 seatpost, a bit of compliance in the rear triangle and slacker HTA. Bonus if weight is actual around 1000g for a 19".

I've seen DIYCarbon frames for $425 USD: https://www.diycarbonbikes.com/collections/hardtailframes/products/2018-29er-dcb-xc27-carbon-mountain-bike-frame.
Haven't looked at eBay or PB classifieds. Being away so long it gets confusing trying to catch up on the options. The DIY site has the SC Highball clone and they mention" comfort, but the last Highball that I demo'd years ago was anything but comfortable. Maybe the new open mold version is?

Thanks for any help.

The only hardtail I have experience with is a pressfit BB, so I'm no help there.  But I just wanted to say that I've seen enough negative experiences with DIYCarbonBikes that I'd stay far away.

I have a Trifox SDY20, ticks a lot of your boxes apart of the seapost diameter. Light, stong and supports 100mm travel.

I'm looking at the sdy20 as well.  Very close to purchasing.  Would you be willing to share your components used?  Especially interested in which BB.  Also, I'm planning on building myself; any troubles putting stuff together?  I've read about paint in the brake mounts and other places.

Did you check the FM1036A from Carbonda? It just popped out recently.
There is another post here about it.

Carbonda site is quite clunky. They sell the frames of Flybike Asia.
http://www.flybike-asia.com/product/260.html

As with many builders here, you order by email.
Either the email you can find on their website, or you can contact Wing: wing (at) carbonda.com

I built up the Highball frame earlier this year and the result is a very compliant ride.  However, I can't tell how much of that is due to the frame and how much of that is the seatpost.  I used their lightweight post (I am 160lbs) and it's 1cm from the max line, so this maximizes flex.
