I've been using the fake cane creek ee brakes without issue, although they are the direct mount versions.

Looking for rim brake caliper to replace Dura-ace 7403 that are too narrow for my Elite wheels. May do current Shim 105, but want to know if people have good experience from other brands. Would be nice to to stay under $80 USD

imho stay with shimano. see if there are any 2nd hand dura ace. Fake ee on aliexpress are very flexy and not enough power

I have SRAM red on my supersix. They are notorious for braking poorly. If i were to do it again, i'd keep in mind that saving weight on rim brake calipers probably isn't the wisest place to do that. Especially using carbon brake tracks. Going downhill on that bike is a key reason why i switched to discs. When you're heavy, bombing down steep hairpins in a forest, and starting to wonder after hairpin 4 or 5 if the braking surface is going to melt or not, is not a nice feeling. When you start thinking about routes and "is it too steep on the way down, should we do it the other way around", it's time to upgrade to something that actually works. I'm never going back.
Writing this to share my experience. The whole "discs brake better" argument can feel vague. The example above is not vague at all in my memory.
Half of my reply is relevant, the other half counts as PSA :)
Fast on the flat. And nowhere else.
