Advice for my first MTB frame
« on: March 04, 2023, 04:29:53 AM »
Hi everyone! I'm looking for a Chinese 29 MTB frame, size L, around 200/300 euros.
I have never bought frames in my life.

I am totally inexperienced on chinese mtb frames.

I already have the components, brakes, group etc.
I just have some doubts about the compatibility with my wheels and my fork.

My fork is a RockShox TK Silver 29 100mm SOLO AIR.

Brakes - SHIMANO XT M8000
180 disc front
Rear 160

Wheels have quick release axle (what other compatibility features should I look at?)

Thanks to those who will help me.
(Sorry for my english)

The qr rear axle is going to limit your choices severely. Consider finding a new boost rear wheel. Bottom bracket and crankset will probably have to be new as well. Fork, front wheel, brakes etc will likely fit.
Have a look at the recent thread on sp-m016, it is one of the cheaper frames.

Brakes - Shimano XT M8000 160 front 180 rear
Fork - RockShox TK Silver 29 100mm SOLO AIR non-tapered
Bottom Bracket - BSA 68-73mm
Wheel axle - Quick release
Gearbox - Sram NX 11 speed
Crankset - 36 single chainring, 104BCD, 175mm crank

What is good and what is missing?
Thank you.

All frames have tapered head tubes in general.
You may look for some adapters.

For the QR wheels, good luck !
You may ask all the sellers you can find here, if they have old unsold frames around.
Or try to know if you can replace the end caps of the hubs to convert them to thru axles.
