I've been using it for 3 months now and while it does have false positives and a couple false negatives (mostly motorbikes, it only detects half of them i'd say) I still find having a radar valuable for the peace of mind, despite relatively friendly motorists here.
However I've been fighting battery life the entire time, I'm using radar only for the most part and even disabled the brake light (which I'm pretty sure isn't a real accelerometer but just turns on whenever my speed is under a certain threshold (12-15kmh?) which is a lot of the time in the mountains. If it is an accelerometer, it's quite bad
I would estimate I only get about 8-10 hours with these very conservative settings.
It's very light but I wish they added 20 grams or so on the battery capacity. I'm not sure I would buy it again in those conditions and I'm thinking of trading it for an IGPSport SR30 mini

This seems about right. I get similar battery life from my garmin unit. I charge it every night. No big deal.

I wouldn't take garmin as an example to follow when it comes to battery. Maybe their main competitor is equally bad, but imo 8 hours is awful. I don't want to recharge it every other ride and wish they sacrificed a little weight for more battery

Yeah battery life is very inconsistent for the Magene. Pretty disappointed. Don't have exact numbers, maybe it's just my unit but I have a feeling only radar mode eats battery faster then simple low flash mode

I'm in the same boat. Not a fan of the standby chewing up battery life either - I've had times where I've gone to ride a bike at night only to find out the battery is dead from having sat on standby. My battery life experience is the same at 7-8 hours of normal riding - I'm considering just going back to a regular rear light until the tech has improved sufficiently so that battery life is less of an issue.

OR just plug it in after each ride and it is always ready to go for another day. Seems par for the course these days with all the things that need to be charged.
