Hey guys,

Getting ready to jump into the gravel world and the Tantan GR201 frame looks like a great option.

I'm 195cm and trying to figure out the right size. Would the 58cm be the way to go for my height? Anyone else around this height on a GR201?

Also wondering about Tantan's own wheels. Thinking of grabbing them too, but I haven't really seen any reviews anywhere. Has anyone here tried them out? Worth it?

Coming from MTB, my first thought was a 1x setup. But for how I plan to use this bike – mostly road with the occasional gravel detour – I'm leaning more towards a 2x now.

The only way I'd probably stick with 1x is if I could run a big ring like 48t for road speed. But reading around here, it sounds like putting a 48t on the front with 1x might be an issue on this frame. Is that right?

Hard to say that it will fit, based on just your height. Have you tried comparing the frame with a bike that fits you well?

https://www.bike-stats.de/geometrie_vergleich

That would be the first thing, I would do.

Without knowing more I would say that 58 with 1,95 should be ok

I haven't really tried a whole lot of bikes other than MTBs...
Also don't have any experience on the influence of different specs.
I tried a friends Canyon Grail 1 in size XL, but that looks odd in every geometry comparison, due to the frame-integrated bars.
Also tried a rose backroad in L, that felt a little small, but I have no idea, how much another stem/cockpit can change.
Guess I have to try that, but i think, that could work out.

I find it a bit odd, that the are almost no reviews of the tantan wheels.
Would you think they are worth a shot, or should I stick to a known brand?

I would also like to hear the opinion the taller guys who own this frame. The geo look ok on 58 apart from the headtube that's crazy short. I don't think theres a stack number on the geo chart but when compating fork length and a headtube to my current lightcarbon frame it looks like I will end up with a 4cm shorter stack in addition to this frame being quite a bit longer

I think the geometry states 602mm stack and 165mm headtube for the 580 version.

I measure 191 cm and ride the size 58 frame with 100 mm stem

189cm with 90mm stem.

I guess you can try with 110mm Stem + a few spacers and/or a very sporty position on the bike.

If you are located in Berlin/ Germany by any chance you can test ride mine.

Anyone *know the largest 2x chainring setup that will fit? Irrespective of tire clearance for the FD. Thanks

189cm with 90mm stem.

That seems a bit short? I'm 187cm, ordered the 58, and planning on putting a 120mm stem on it :o

If you have very short legs and long torso/arms, that might work. But I would not want to ride such a long stem on a gravel bike. Also to consider: reach of handlebar + STIs

I have moved saddle quite a bit forward since I don’t want to sit too far behind the bottom bracket and I would say that it fits me quite well.

Here's a shot of my finished frame. Just picked it up from the shop, I had them cut the fork and face all the mounting points. I finished painting a while ago and then put it in a box because life and stuff, but now I'm finally ready to build ;D Can't wait to ride it.

Quite the opposite, as most tall men, longer legs compared to rest. But I compared it to my VBR-268 which has a 400/100mm bar on a XL frame. That setup is actually a bit too small for me. Since the GR201 in 58 stacks higher, the effective reach is even shorter. That's why I was thinking about going longer. But maybe my position is just much more aggressive than what you are riding?

Maybe that’s the case. Did you consider the flatter seat tube angle also? If I compare those two frames I come to the conclusion that you will sit longer on the Tideace anyways.

IMHO you cannot just compare stack/reach.

Yes, I used the "measurement" tool below to check actual distance between saddle and handlebar. I would adjust the saddle ofc to match my seated position (distance saddle to BB/pedals). Then with the same handlebar, I would have a reduced "actual reach" from saddle to hoods by about 15mm. So even with the longer stem, the bike wouldn't actually be longer at all. Or I am misinterpreting or missing something else completely ...

My frame has arrived, and I've built it, I have an FSA No 69 headset: https://www.fsaproshop.com/products/no-69-srs
I have a rockshox rudy fork, and it seems like there is no gap on the crown of the fork, on the top it seems fine. I can't tighten the headset enough to not have play, but If I tighten it a bit more the fork won't move freely. What shims do I need, and where should I put them, or what should I do?

Thanks!
