Kids Size Chinese Carbon MTBs?

Anyone built one or have good ideas for sourcing frames, wheels and forks?

Couldn't find much information around here so figured a specific thread would be applicable.

Here's some frames/wheels I've come across recently;

DIY Carbon Bikes has 24/26" carbon rims, Hardtails and Full Suspension carbon frames;

BXT on AliExpress has a 24" carbon hardtail;

There are a few cranksets available on AliExpress,

CRUZbike makes a crankset that looks promising, 127-140-150mm lengths and 25t-38t GXP chainring options to choose from.

I have used Cruz crank on my kids bike and it’s a pretty good piece of kit.

As for frame you have a few more options than BXT but it’s the one I will use for my daughter 24”

The bxt frame is fine, I've built two. They were as little as $220 shipped last ali 11/11 sale.

Quite a bit about them on other forums, but it's all pretty old, the frame has been out quite a while.

Old reba dual airs work great with light kids. My daughter's is like 22.5lbs.

That bike looks awesome, thanks for sharing. I will look into the fork you are using, I was struggling a little to find something outside of the manitou and that was too expensive for my taste.

Those cruz cranks work. I used 142mm. They are extremely small Q, and especially non driver side is very close to the frame but it does fit.

I am looking for 24" carbon wheelset, not much in term of budget options but I found some 24" MTB rims, is there any reason why I could not pair these with goldix M370 or some Novatec hubset and some descent spokes to make a set of light wheels for $350?

No reason they won't work.  Even a cheap hub built for an adult will work great for a light weight kid/young adult.

I have been looking for a 24" build for my daughter.  finally settled on going with the BXT 24er frame.  I found a Reba 26er fork and I am going with Deore brakes and drive train and some kids 140mm cranks.  for wheels I actually went with Stans Crest mk4 rims.  they are lighter and wider than what I could find elsewhere as well as slightly cheaper.  as parts come in I will post some pics.

I would order the 127mm cranks too just to try. I know a dad who has quick kids who put like 114s on a 24" bike. I liked the fit of the 127mm and moved up to 142mm for the 26"

Thank you for the information, I will order a set.  i was unsure of what length so I looked at the woom 5 and the BMC stroke 24 and both had the 144mm cranks so I went that way but I see shorter cranks on adult bikes now.

@Chris948

What wheels did you use for your build pictured?  Looks like a mullet setup w/ 26" front wheel?

I'm looking for a small 26er for my 9 year old daughter, similar to the DIY carbon option.  The weight weenie aspect is easy enough on these bikes other than the wheels, anybody find any cheap carbon wheels in 26"?  The kids are so light that I'm not that worried about them being 'strong' enough (most things will be).
