Frames For Tall People
« on: April 21, 2024, 11:16:32 AM »
Being tall makes searching for a nice frame that suits you a pain. I myself am 192cm (6'3) with a 93cm (3'½) and am still searching for quality frame for a decent price.

At the moment I'm making a list of manufacturers/frames/components that would suit me but, with little succes. So far I've only been able to find the VB-R-077/LTK118.

If anyone has any good frames for tall people please feel free to share them so I can make a list for all the other struggles out there!

Thanks :)

I have the x34 currently, i am 6’7. I feel hunched over but its a solid frame, the paint isnt durable though but no chinese frame is.
If youre 6’3 itd probably fit you. I run 120/440

Agree, limited choices of Chinerframes that offer good fit for tall people, probably better to stick with western brands.
I am 195cm with 96cm inseam, running 87cm saddle to bottom bracket center which requires frames > 56cm seat tube length and stack of 600mm and more for adjusting a reasonable fit (at least for me).

I have a Velobuild VB-R-099 (Long Teng LTK268-D, Workswell WCB-R-268, TanTan TT-X21) which is a nice bike, after fixing the headset play.
TanTan keeps recomending the TT-X34 to me, but I do not like the look of the Trek clone.

If you were more specific you may get better answers. 192 isn't that tall to start with.
Fast on the flat. And nowhere else.

Are you running the 60cm frame? If so than it's awesome that you made it work for you!

What about the geometry though? Do you feel like it's too aggressive?

With similar height (192cm, 86,3cm bb to saddle), I can recommend the following bikes by own experience :
Dengfu R12 : perfect geometry for tall riders, I even used a - 17deg stem
Ican A9: a stiff aero crit/ race bike
Adapt a-002/ Tavelo attack: currently testing this bike and so far I like it very much, a bit more compliant compared to the Ican, lighter and yet very responsive. It's just tall enough for me to still look good (not too exaggerated seatpost exposure and stem sspacers)

 194, 84-6 seat height, 48 EU shoes

 Focus Izalco MAX XXL

 ICAN A2 58 pic attached.

 Kona Zone 61cm

 all 420 reach + 120 mm stem

tried 400 + 140 stem, terrible, when you out of saddle with long stem

Canyon Ultimate I don't need XXL, XL is 419mm reach.

 Cheers,

Wow these are some really good recommendations actually! I looked into the Dengfu R12 and that looks like a crazy beast. The only unfortunate thing is that it's slightly pricy.

For anyone wondering what parts I am getting:

Frame/Fork/Handlebar/Seat post: Tan Tan TT-X34
Groupset: Shimano Ultegra Disc R8020
Bottom bracket: Shimano Ultegra SM-BBR60
Power Meter: PES P505 Base Power Meter
Pedals: Shimano Ultegra R8000 SPD-SL Carbon Pedals
Wheels: Elitewheels SLR-DISC 2.0
Tires: Vittoria Corsa Pro G2 TLR
Saddle: Pro Stealth Sport Saddle

If anyone is curious about how the build turned out let me know  ;D

Look at the new Seka Spear. I’m almost your height and intrigued by it. It’s got a higher stack than most Chinese frames and looks well made.

Hi, I wanted to know how your wheels are holding up since elite ratchet hub seems pretty recent with very few reviews.
I'm hesitating between their SLR disc-2 and SLT disc. Dilema being is it better to have the ratchet hub from SLR or the ceramic bearings from the SLT

Hm. I'm not an expert so I might have misunderstod something, but I have just got the X-SLR model with the same rachet as the SLR and with ceramic bearings.

So if that is a possiblity, I'm pretty sure they are flexible if you ask for ceramic bearings in the SLR disc-2.
