Best budget hydro shifter option?
« on: July 02, 2024, 11:08:03 AM »
I've been trying to put together a potential road bike build with some Chinese parts.
I think I would want a 105 rear derailleur, Chinese carbon crank and a 1x chainring on the front. I'm stuck on the shifters, I'm not keen on the price of 105 shifters and brakes.
Is there a Chinese shimano compatible option that's recommended? From what I can see these Sensah shifters aren't very cheap either https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006137602599.html almost the same price as 105 https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006941853628.html
I don't mind the brand as long as it works well.

At these price points, I would just go Shimano hydraulic. I've tried them all and the Shimano stuff will be the most reliable. Shop around, maybe you can find shifters elsewhere. I picked up a pair of Ultegra 8020 shifters from Ebay less than what AliEx was selling them for.

Use coupons and get the 105 R7020 over any Sensah or LTwoo shifters. Or buy used which is what I do most of the times. Used them all, and Shimano stuff is simply better in almost every sense.

Yeah, just saw a second hand 105 2x11 for 250€. You can get Ultegra for about 350-400. No need to go Chinese...
