2024 11.11 / Black Friday sale planning
« on: October 30, 2024, 10:02:30 PM »
As most of you know, the 11.11 sale is one of the biggest of the year. Vendors also have a history of increasing prices in advance - just like US retailers for Black Friday. What is in your cart waiting on the sale?

I have a set of NGEbut hubs (i9 hydra clones) that show as $158 today with a price drop to $136 on Nov 1st. https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256806584091583.html Now to see if it drops even more.

the prices have been inflating as if alix were becoming a total scam in the last couple of weeks, just so that they can come down again. The magnitude of which is insane, both on high value items, and cheap ones.
Fast on the flat. And nowhere else.

At current prices I really struggle to justify any Ali/china stuff. The 20% price difference or similar doesn't seem to justify by itself being the only "key" difference the ability to customize colours or sizing.. Right now in the market even second hand stuff appears more expensive than new stuff.

Is anyone following the US de minimis tariff exemption changes? this year's 11/11 prices might be the lowest we'll see in a while. I'm thinking about loading up on some drivetrain parts. :-\

Their "Choice" deals starting tomorrow aren't as "Choice" as they were a few months ago.  I am glad I already purchased a lot of items a while back.  For a lot of the items I purchased prices are up a lot. 10% to 30%    I am sure that the Chinese have taken the same sales playbook as the USA has been following for years now.   They probably realize that a lot of USA consumers are suckers and will purchase marked up items thinking they received a good deal during the sales.

I suspect that the majority of us on Chinertown are using "discretionary" money to purchase or stock up on items we really don't need so we will cut back on our purchases unless we feel we are getting our money's worth.

Regarding 11-11 sale,  I have my list of higher priced items that I will pull the trigger on if the price is right:  Sale price + store coupons + Aliexpress coupons + coins.  This combination sometimes can't be beat.

I'm hoping to pick up a new wheelset. Possibly the Lexon carbon cranks too if the price is good. Maybe a saddle

I'd be looking for the new Lexon Road 24mm crankset if price is right, and a Xcadey power meter to fit.

ZTTO gen2 or gen3 cassette

Magene radar

Sensah hrd team pro for the commuter. (Anyone tried this group since they updated their brakes?)
