just a curious question. is EPS molding that superior to the previous methods? or is it just a refinement. can i expect an EPS frame to be lighter, stronger, stronger or???

according to Ribble website:
EPS is a process whereby an expanded polystyrene internal mould is covered in latex. Individual strands of carbon fibre are then ‘layered up’ to an exacting specification over this internal construct. The whole mould is then heated to 130°, inflated and then cured. When the latex is removed it produces a perfectly smooth finish, with none of the excess material you tend to find on the inside of less advanced frames. But what difference does this EPS core make to the overall construction of a frame?

Unlike other methods of manufacturing, the EPS process results in a frame that exhibits zero excess carbon material on the inside of the tubing. Why should this matter we hear you ask? Well, not only is the inside of the frame completely smooth to the touch, but it also eliminates any imperfections, which in turn enhances the structural integrity of each carbon fibre to create a stronger frame.
It enables the frame to be constructed as one complete section of carbon. A monocoque frame is stronger, lighter, and stiffer than a comparable bonded frame.
It eliminates the imperfections in the carbon layup that earlier production methods were susceptible to. Zero imperfections result in exceptional strength and reliability.

Finally finished my build a couple of weeks ago. I waited to take it out until I thought I had a clear day and of course got utterly soaked. The shite weather notwithstanding, I am super happy with the ride. It feels super responsive, stiff and fast, especially as compared to the Orbea Orca I had been riding for a couple of years. The Fl1 feels like a proper race bike. I originally got it for big mountain climbing, but based on how fast it goes especially with these wheels on the flat, I'm definitely going to do some crit racing on it this year.

Final weight with pedals, cages and computer mount is about 7.2kg.

Specs: FL1 size 52cm
Shimano Ultegra 12 speed Di2
Elilee 165mm carbon crank
Xm carbon speed 55/50 28 external width with 5.2mm carbon spokes
Lightcarbon integrated bar/stem 38 by 110

I've ridden mine approximately 1500 km. I absolutely love it. I feel super fast on climbs and it descends and corners really well. Raced a cat 3 crit on it last week and it felt fast and good in the corners. The race came down to a sprint and I had my best placing in over 2 years, so it seems to sprint well too.

Only downside is that the paint is a bit fragile. Already chipped a bit on the underside of the chain stay from rocks kicking up off the ground.

And another question

Do you think that is possible to use this frame for light gravel? Too light?

Ive taken mine on some 1-2k stretches of very light gravel that I've encountered during a road route. I think the frame can handle it fine; would likely use a different set of wheels if I were intentionally seeking out gravel segments.
