VeloBuild VB-TT-023 frame build-up

Just kicking off a thread to document the frame build. Parts used pictures taken an links to videos as I upload them. Hopefully it will help some other novice frame builders in the future to solve build issues or get a closer look at frame parts before pulling the trigger on purchasing this frame.

Extras in the box. 3 water bottle cages and extra screws for a taller towers. But no extra spaces. I will design and 3d print if I need to increase stack height.

The frame is a standard matt black in M with 420 bars and L rest bars (I am 175cm tall with a slightly longer trunk than the average person), here is a picture of all the bits out of the box a picture of the fork in place pre-cut and post cut with the stem attached.

I plan on getting some youtube unboxing video's up this weekend. Will add to this thread as I upload things. Expected completion date of build end Dec as I am time poor.

I'm 1,88 with 90cm inseam length and 81cm seat hight.

I talked to a guy that sells this "L" frame as complete bike on ebay:

He said the L frame is at the upper limit but for him (1,89/80cm seat hight) it fits quite well. See also picture 13 on ebay.

To jump in on this, I am also 187cm with inseam of ~86cm and have the L frame, built up and riding. Fit feels good with the bars I have (the new Winow FastTT clones) although I would prefer a bit more reach (this can easily be achieved with some aftermarket parts / tinkering). Only feels a bit weird when out the saddle and giving it some effort as the frame can feel a bit small.

I think I just like a really stretched out position, came from an XL Speed Concept really stretched out.

I will be getting some reach extenders like these (https://fasttt.bike/product/forward-reach-extender-bracket/) to really dial in my position. Still much cheaper than getting a branded frame with longer reach. I also just like tinkering really

You can use my file if you want to. I've used printed ones aswell without issues, to find my correct height. Once I'm done with fitting, I'll replace them though..

I only made 30mm versions, but you can strech them in your slicer obviously.

I am very much looking forward to the documentation of the construction of the frame. I've also got my eye on it.

How come you decided on the size M? At 173cm, I was definitely suggested a size S.

The important bit is to never rely on the strength of a printed part. The spacer I shared has two m5 bolts going all the way through it, so the plastic will always be in compression. The printed part can only break if one of the two m5 bolts breaks, too. And if that happens, I have a different kind of problem.
