Stone 2x Chainrings?
« on: February 08, 2025, 11:56:47 AM »
Looking for good aluminum 2x chainrings (50/34). Ideally 110BCD/5 bolt and under $80. I was looking at Stone, and Bucklos (although I prefer all back) but I was wondering if anyone else had any recommendations? Kinda hoping for the weight to be around 150g or less.

Pass Quest and Stone are both VERY good chainring brands. I feel Pass Quest has slightly better finish.

I noticed that the $170 cybrei chainrings on Panda Podium look suspiciously similar to the Stone ones on AliExpress that are less than half the price...

I'd just go Pass Quest or Stone. I tried some cheaper 5 bolt Fovno chainrings and shifting was bleh.

liking the vote of confidence for Stone! I also considered XCADEY because they were only $30 ($80 on panda podium, but also a vote of confidence that PP sells them in the first place) but figured Stone might be nicer. I'm putting these one someone else's bike and this is still within the budget so might as well.

I've been running Stone chain rings on my 2x gravel bike and they've been spot on. No probs at all. Given the amount of grit and ick they've had to contend with I'm quite surprised how well they're lasting too.

I've been using STONE chainrings in my 2 road bikes since 2023.
In my case, STONE (110BCD/5 bolt) with Prowheel crank (5 claws):
- 1st Setup 46-30 + cassette 11-32 (Sensah Empire groupset) - For my Alloy endurance road bike, even some light gravel roads. Maybe you ask me: Why 46-30???? 95% of the time I'm riding alone; My cadence is higher than average; High elevations and rough terrain. BONUS: There's no issues to ride with my friends in peloton higher than 38 Km/h average. Barely using 11 cog. More than 6.000 Km used, and works fine.
- 2nd Setup 48-33 + cassette 11-32 (Sensah Empire groupset) - For my Trifox X8. Using this only on road and smooth surfaces. For long rides (150 Km and more). The gear ratio for me it's PERFECT! Again, barely using those small cogs (11 and 12/13).

Note that for me, I don't care about weight. Only reliability.
I hope I'm helped you.

I did end up getting the Stone 50-34t, 5 bolt chainrings. Unfortunately there were some issues with the Winspace C5 frame they were supposed to go on so I have not been able to put them on a bike yet. I ended up sending the frame back and am currently waiting on a replacement that will hopefully arrive in the next 1-2 weeks.

Maybe someone here can chime in........ I am looking to replace my current SRAM Rival 12spd chain rings with a 46/35. Can someone point me in the right direction? I was looking at PasQuest, just not sure which to select.

Running the SRAM 54/41 and 50/37 on two different bikes with no issues. They're great chainrings

There was a chip in the carbon inside the bb. It's completely possible it wasn't a big issue, but the carbon there was reeaally thin and I'm not letting a brand that pretends to be that premium send me poor quality parts like that. Also Winspace refused to acknowledge there was even a chip there in the first place so they could avoid replacing it under the warranty (seemed like a red flag to me). They made me pay $200 to do the exchange. I sent the frame back 3 weeks ago and I'm still waiting on winspace to ship the replacement. I posted about it in a separate thread. It's been a whole miserable saga.
