1x aero chainring and cranks - options
« on: March 14, 2025, 06:09:11 AM »
I'm looking for a cheap 1x aero chainring and cranks option. The passquest ones look good, but require shimano cranks and trying to find any (especially in 165mm) at a good price seems impossible.

Are there any aero chainrings that work with cheap aliexpress cranks? Not fussed about weight as it's for a dedicated crit bike.

you can get the passquest rings in all different kind of designs so they should fit a also the widely available 3 bolts system from scenicx https://de.aliexpress.com/item/1005006641832715.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.17.21225c5fCYdaIY&gatewayAdapt=glo2deu

That's all GXP / Dub... I've only seen Shimano or SRAM. Am I missing something?

Not sure what your budget is but.. rotor aldhu direct mount with a compatible chainring rotor or your selected chainring might work.

I have a 1x Pass Quest chainring on my SRAM 107 BCD crank.
I have a hope until someone can prove otherwise.

since this is also chainring thread, anyone tried the Riro 1x aero chainrings with grooves?
its almost half the price of passquest.

I have 2x version of these rings and I'm not overly impressed with it. I bought it along Passquest and Stone and those two are far better. My main issue with Goldix is that how easily it flexes.
I also have their old non-aero chainrings and they all had varying degrees of warp from factory. For 1x it might not make a difference but for 2x the front shifting becomes terrible.

If you can, stick to Stone or PQ chainrings IMHO.

I've been running the 46T version on my commuter for the past few weeks. It's easier to flex than a Shimano chainring, but I haven't had any issues while riding. Then again, not really putting out a lot of power on my commutes. The bolts were kind of annoying to tighten due to their design, though.

I agree with fhold. The cheapest and best option seems Pass Quest 3-bolt aero chainring + Senixc crank (DUB or 24mm spindle)

So just Pass Quest ring with the 3-bolt Sram connection:
https://a.aliexpress.com/_EGuBuYK
Available up to a 58t chainring

And then Senicx crank. Either PR2 if you have/want a DUB bottom bracket. Or the PR3 if you want to use a 24mm axle/BB:

Should be between 100 and 150 euros.
I use both the Senicx crank and the Pass quest rings on my gravel bike. But I have the Pass quest 104BCD chainring, because I use the XCadey power meter as a spider on the Senicx cranks, using the 3-bolt connection.
