Bit more food for thoughts regarding value - how does Winspace compare against in-house brands like Radon? Just saw one of their offerings with a 12 speed Ultegra Di2 groupset for 2800 euros: https://www.bike-discount.de/en/radon-vaillant-disc-9.0-2. Even with bad wheels, value is through the roof as groupset alone is 1500 euros.

On a unrelated note, Twitter bike has been rebranded in the West:

Road Bike Frames, Wheels & Components / Re: VeloBuild VB-R-268 frame
« on: January 30, 2024, 04:00:50 PM »
So basically the frame was manufactured for that company for a while, contract ended and now the mould is open for companies like Velobuild?

To add something to discussion about value perspective: Winspace Agile frameset would cost roughly 2000€ to get shipped to me. Meanwhile, Giant TCR Advanced 2 costs 2800€ with full mechanical 105 groupset. Building Agile to the same spec would cost way more, considering 105 groupset alone is 550€. I guess Agile does provide better value if you are building top spec bike vs upgrading the TCR

Wiggle/Chain Reaction is (or was) awesome. I'd buy all my nutrition and handlebars from them. I was able to snag a spare set of Prime carbon aero handlebars from them for $100 right before they stopped shipping to the USA.

The good news is you can still find the alloy version of those bars rebranded as "Control Tech" on Amazon. A few bucks more expensive than the Prime branded version, but the ergonomics are the best in my collection of bars.

Alternatively I also have a pair of these FSA Vision TriMax Aero alloy bars. 380mm at the hoods and 400mm in the drops. They also provide a lot reach (90mm) which I love, and they are lighter than the Prime alloy bars. Mostly they offer full internal cable routing like the Prime bars.

ControlTech is the actual OEM for Wiggle handlebars IIRC

I think the largest one is Wiggle, which is going into some European form of bankruptcy.
True, but they only had nice deals on their own in-house brands stuff. Other items like Shimano parts were still more expensive than in proper stores, i.e. bike-discount.com

What bleeding kits does everyone use with their LTWoo groupsets? My kit doesn't fit the callipers and no store in town has a fitting kit.

37
Nah. Any decent Chinese OEM can make these wheels.

You can get Farsports Hyper wheelset for like 1000-1100€ with shipping and VAT. Storck pays probably like 50% of that to the OEM

Component Deals & Selection / Re: Handlebars similar to Alanera?
« on: January 11, 2024, 01:42:09 PM »
What do you mean by similar? Or do you just want them without graphics? I believe they do sell unbranded.

2023 New ALANERA Full Black Carbon Road Bike Intergrated Handlebar For 28.6mm Fork Steer With Headset Spacers And Computer Mount
https://a.aliexpress.com/_mt8Z1MG

I bought this handlebar for my build. Haven't assembled the bike yet, but the bar does feel stiff in hands. However, not sure if I would recommend it - spacers are absolutely awful and it seems like some bars are fit for fully internal  routing while others are not routed for it. I wonder if there are any other bars with similar ergonomic specs (i.e. drop, reach, -6 degree or smaller angle)?

If you wont miss the extra $2K, getting the SL8 is probably worth it. Easier access to spares, easier shop service if you need it. Proven performance etc. and you will get some of that back on resale if you swap bikes every couple of years.

Regarding your concerns around fitting other bars and stems. This bike uses a 1 1/2” upper bearing, so you should be able to swap it out for headsets from Deda and FSA and use systems compatible with their designs. You will lose the shaped transition spacer. Integrated bars tend to come with fit kits including their own spacers. Higher end Chinese ones like the BigRock Skyline II even include their own C ring.

RE: 3D printing. Some people release their 3d printed designs on sites like printables. I personally do not, as I don’t want to offer support for the design or deal with people printing the designs in materials that they aren’t designed for and then telling me the design doesn’t work.

I think getting SL7 is better choice than SL8 - it should be cheaper, no major difference between the frames and most importantly SL7 doesn't have the Buttsniffer™

It's actually other way around where I live - MTBs are far more popular than road bikes, even among people who ride in the city

Without commenting on the YouTubers, I think the best-value frame that has evidence of aero testing in development is probably the Elilee Blize (~$1700 shipped USD including bar).

Wheels, probably Hunt’s aerodynamicist line or the Zipp 303S? I cant think of a Chinese offering that has been developed in that manner.

Bars, EXS?

Elilee looks as aerodynamic as cow on ice. It looks like V4RS, Trek Emonda and other lightweight race bikes, but aero it's not. You're billion times better off with Winspace T1500, even if it costs bit more

Road Bike Frames, Wheels & Components / Re: Climbing road frame?
« on: November 03, 2023, 05:27:45 AM »
I compete in triathlon, but I always prefer a climb frame.
The climb frame used with a 50mm wheelset will perform as aero, but an aero frame uphill is very difficult.

Tell that to Vingegaard, lol.
It's not as simple as that. At low gradients aero will still be faster. Not to mention downhill and flats

Component Deals & Selection / Re: ZRace RX crankset - broken
« on: October 25, 2023, 03:15:50 PM »
Yikes, first failure I've seen of this crank. Its a shame because its one of the only 29mm spindle cranksets on aliexpress that's reasonably lightweight.

edit: looks like a similar failure linked here: https://www.reddit.com/r/bicycling/comments/16p795v/dont_buy_zrace_rx_cranks_i_guess/
Fovno Aurora Pro is even lighter, but also more expensive at around 120 euros. Should be receiving mine soon.

Their hub for carbon spokes is the RD270, which uses a ratchet similar to DT Swiss. They offer 36 and 54 tooth engagement. Currently they’re $1050 with that hub.
Yes, seems like you are right - on their aliexpress store they have option of FD230 hub, but on the web shop they have listed RD270 hub, which is ratchet.

This is pretty much exactly what I’m looking for as well. Closest I could find is Farsports, which have a 58 depth, 24mm internal wheel with carbon spokes that use their in house ratchet hub (36 or 54).

I am not 100% sure, but I think their Far230 hub uses pawls? But they do offer carbon spokes with DT240 hubs, althought the wheelset  costs like 1300 USD.
