Re: All Mountain 29er-New build "the Eggplant" so, finally had an answer from vendor; they found I'm right, size Large strike seat tube and now they re-design the whole rear triangle for all sizes, because is the same.
Once it will be ready one will be shipped for free.

Re: Stumpjumper clone Its been a while since I posted to this thread and since I had some people PM me regarding how I handled the cable exit port, I wanted to share my 2 cents:

-Specialized uses a a rubber sleeve which serves as the perfect transition as it encloses the cables from the downtube to the chainstays as well as keeping any dirt and water from entering the frame, I tried to source the part but was unable to find it anywhere.
-In the end I figured out to use something to plug the hole, so I looked for some firewall oval rubber grommets over Amazon, fit them to the frame and made 2 holes for the cables to pass.

So far it has worked quite well, no debris nor water inside frame and does not look bat at all.

Hopefully someone will find this useful  :)

Re: Carbonda FM909 Arrived. 1827g with all mouting bolts, RD hanger, cable liners, outer housing bushings. No bottle cage bolts, no shock, no protection plastics, no seatpost clamp, no headset, no BB.

all bearing rotation is far from smooth (but i dont care too much).  Shock bushing 8x30mm (8mm diameter x 30mm L to R) required (may not be included). I am contacting to seller but maybe i have to buy separately.

Any question?

Re: Stumpjumper clone So, I finally after much back and forth bought this frame from AWST at the end of April and it arrived today in Muscat, Oman.  ;D

I got them to ship to Hong Kong (free) and from there via Aramex Shop and Ship to Oman for US$50 with no VAT or other taxes applied. RESULT :D

Still waiting for the wheels though... Also, the service wasn't great. Even taking into account language barriers. Threats were made to recall the frame and charge double for shipping again etc. All because they failed to request an extension to the automated shipping date and a refund was processed. Ultimately, I could have gotten the frame for free as it had already shipped from Aramex by the time they raise the issue to me. They also missed their promised shipping date, 9 May, for everything by 10 days. I did pay again and the wheels are still not shipped but hey ho...

So here are a couple of photos:




Overall, I'm pretty impressed with the build and the quality of the finish, with no imperfections, but, a little over run on the BB etc. It will be partially repainted to have a gloss black rear triangle and partial front triangle al a Specialized. I'm doing this locally as they wanted a small fortune for the dual colour.

I'll weigh the frame and components tonight and post then. Frame is size L.

Then once done I'll start assembling the bike. No rush as its 40C/104F outside now... >:(

Re: DT 240EXP hub clones Goldix, Venfort In terms of geometry are similar but not the same.

Also DT350 weights around 360
DT240 EXP weights around 310
And this hubset weights around 320, so in terms of weight they are more similar to DT 240 (internals are quite equal in 240 and 350).

About bearings, freehub are different, compatible but Goldix freehub uses 6802 bearings and DT 6902 bearings (in old ratchet). Comparing with DT 240 EXP, this are a bit better, it uses 1526 (15 x 26 x 7 mm) bearings, so bigger ball race than 6802, so we assume that they have longer life.

In terms of bearings lasting 6902 > 1526 (15 x 26 x 7 mm) > 6802... theoretically.

Just a note: Goldix front hub uses 6902 and I think that it could be enough to use 6802 in this case and this will save some grams.

DT240 EXP front hub 24 holes center lock -> 104 grams
Goldix GDR310 front hub 24 holes center lock -> 113 grams

DT240 EXP rear hub 24 holes center lock -> between 204-210
Goldix GDR310 rear hub 24 holes centerl lock -> 206 grams

Ho owns and rides this frame VS building it and just letting sit for months?

Maybe spend some time researching geometry and suspension, those will tell you most of the story for any frame. I didn't read ShaneW's first post as an attack at all. I have found the majority of the threads about a given frame lack information regarding how the frame actually rides/handles.   I am still newer on the forum, and when I started reading some of the threads on many frame discussed here, I felt like I wasted many hours reading page after page of almost worthless comments, just to glean some good posts regarding how a given frame handles, or its manufacturing quality and many other details I was hoping to find, that I didn't find.  (Primary example is the thread on the Carbona 909. 40 pages, 365 posts as of today, where after reading every post, i found only 6 posts regarding how the frame handles/rides.)
If I use myself as an example, I would be able to very well describe how any given road bike or gravel bike frame handles, but for other classes/types of frames, like full suspension mtb frames, I haven't ridden large enough of a variety of FS bikes to be able to provide a good review.   Therefore I hoped to find good information on how discussed Chinese frames handle, but I have found this information lacking, or I have been unable find it. 
Is this because most of us are not die hard riders, that only have limited experience riding a lot of different rides, or do all the bikes handle good enough that it isn't worth commenting about, because they meet the purchaser's/rider's expectations.
