Re: Shimano groups on AliEx I've bought brakes/crankset from ali and yes they were the genuine article. I wouldn't buy a chain though.

Re: How do yall feel about the value of open mold road bikes vs mainstream brands? I honestly think the best option is to go with a mainstream second hand frameset and then build it up with your own "chinese" components.

Anyone that is going for whole bike builds is a super fred at this point since I would have to immediately replace the bars/stems (44cm lmao) and cranks (175mm lmao).
I also have a lot of wheels already so the wheels/tyres that come with it would go sitting in the corner.
If it comes with a powermeter i'd have to sell it since i already have powermeter.
The saddle is also useless since it won't be my preferred saddle.

At that point i bought a whole bike and only using the frame and the groupset.

Re: How do yall feel about the value of open mold road bikes vs mainstream brands?
I have sold quite a few of my open mold frames.  they actually sell reasonably well in my area.  i am able to get 60-75% of the price i paid.  people are getting more curious about the value proposition that open mold frames provide.  i like to split up the frame and group set when i sell though.  i find that people either want a name brand group set for what ever they are doing or they want an open mold frame to build their own thing.
I've found that if you part out a bike you can sell it for a lot more than if you were to sell it as a package.

Re: Replica Factor Ostro VAM
Nice looking Ostro replica there. Anyway, can you show what type of compression plug given by seller?
Because I've experienced it before, D-shaped steer tube is not working well with normal round compression plug. It tends to loose during ride and for me it's so dangerous.
I find that the expander plugs supplied by any chinese vendor is always shit and you have to replace it.
I just buy a default 50 or 70mm deda and sorted.

Re: Chinese cycling clothes
Anyone got recommendations on a one-piece skinsuit (preferably with pockets)? Looking to find a 'racesuit' type outfit but it seems like there's not much choice from the high quality brands on AliExpress.
Once you go skinsuit you never go back, the fit and simplicity is just far superior imo.
If you can manage to get it on clearance then Neopro skinsuit is incredibly cheap, superior to any ali offering imo.

Re: Thoughts on Panda Podium? I don't see panda podium having much use for people who have already managed to find this forum, it is more so for the boomer freds who are too afraid to buy off aliexpress.

Re: Elves Falath EVO 2023
I like that Hambini exposed this larp Jordain.
Dude is an absolute cancer. He does not even ride bikes, have no experience and measures the BB with some cheap aliexpress caliper claiming he an expert. But he is just some wannabe cyclist who knows shit.
His whole idea is to review as much crap as possible, act like an expert just to get paid promotions from Chinese brands. F this dude.
Honestly he is a super Fred, i don't blame him though, if i could make vids and get free items in return for some shilling i probably would as well, albeit i wouldn't show my face or name.

Re: Winspace T1550 Build
Not many people post photos of their completed bikes on here, but I always enjoy the posts. So I wanted to post my recently completed build on here, and share how much I spent. A lot of builds on here are really balling on a budget but I really purchased from mainstream vendors for less sketchiness, build came out to $3,288 assembled by my LBS

Mechanics first "Chinese" build at the bike shop, he was very impressed with the quality and noted that the internal cable routing gave him no problems. All of the workers at the bike shop where really interested in the build and none had ever heard of Winspace. This really shows how obscure this forum is, we are so far away from mainstream. He did ride it and was super impressed with it, I told them how my goal was to create an entry level roadbike, but have carbon wheels at the same price point.

8.1 kgs with everything, 17.85 lbs

Frame: Winspace T1550 ($1230 Black Friday)
Wheels: Winspace 2023 Hypers D45 ($1049 Black Friday)
Bar: Winspace Zero SL 380 W 105 L ($171 Black Friday)
Groupset: Shimano 105 R7120 Disc ($688 Merlincycles)
Tires: Conti GP 5000 ($130)
Tubes: Ride Now TPU 36g ($25)
Seat: Specialized Power Comp (Free: Old Bike)
Pedals: Shimano 105 SPD-SL (Free: Old Bikes)
Shop Assembly- $240
Just out of curiosity what country?
I have a feeling that winspace and chinese brands in general haven't penetrated the non english speaking market as strongly.

Re: SPD-SL Pedals on AliExpress pedals and cleats are one of the few things I would not advise buying from aliexpress.
Pedal quality is very important to fit and having one pedal being even slightly wider/shorter can really mess you up.

I've used aliexpress shimano lookalike cleats and they have fallen apart like a ride in, when I investigated them as well the stack height was significantly off the actual shimano cleats I had.

Re: Frame recommendations around 60cm. Unless they are a 60 year old boomer they should fit on a 58, i'm 192cm and can even ride a 56cm with a 140mm stem and that is with me having my saddle quite far forward over the BB. 60cm is freaky large imo.
