Re: YBN Chains I've just installed S12-S2 YBN chain, but it's not time for a long-term review yet. It costs less than NX/GX 12-speed chains which should last for 2-3 thousands km according to article you mentioned. I suppose YBN chain to be at least not worse, but it'll be clear only towards the end of the season.

Re: Carbonda FM909
Currently I ride only road bike and cyclocorss, so it is difficult or not possible to transfer these values to a mountain bike, right?
Yep, I think it'll be not correct to transfer this value from road bike, but you can try to calculate it using Lee McCormack's and Peter Verdone's methodics. Lee's approach will give you RAD on shorter side, and Peter's one - on longer side. You may choose average of two values as starting point of your mtb fit.

Re: Carbonda fm936 Thoughts
Does somebody know what is the weight of dummy shock which is installed when the frame come?
51 grams w/o hardware

Re: Carbonda fm936 Thoughts
Hello guys, just three questions:
- how does it work with one bottle? can it handle a big one (750ml)? can we have 2 bottles?
750 mm bottle fits good, two bottles only possible with special mounts. You can also take a look at FM909 frame that has the same geometry but two bottle mounts

- I'm 182 cm tall, did a L is Ok for me?
I'm 183 with long-ish legs, L fits me good with 35mm stem

- Should I  go for a 100 or 120 mm fork? (should be a SID SL Select)
120 will be better 'cause this frame has quite low bottom bracket, and even with 120mm fork it's better to use 170mm cranks

Re: 2022 - Rotor recommendations?
I notice that all the chinese rotors seem to have less material in the breaking surface when compared to Shimano/Sram. Wouldn't that affect performance/heat dissipation and perhaps mean they wear faster?
Heat dissipation is mainly affected by the heat sink area - the more the area, the better is heat dissipation. So highly perforated rotors have great heat dissipation. I've used KCNC Razors for years without any overheating problems (on descends with less than 500m of vertical drop), and now using Chinese rotors of the same weight (107g @ 180mm, 76g @ 160mm) with the same result.
But breaking performance is affected by amount of material on the braking surface, so there is a compromise, as anywhere else in the bicycle.
And of course, the less the material on braking surface, the faster the brake pads and rotor itself will wear out.

Re: New MTBer, Build Advice
My budget is ~$2000 USD.
Choosing full-susser over hardtail will be definitely good decision - you'll get more traction, more speed (not only on descends, but on tech climbs also) and less pain. But I think you have to increase your budget, at least a bit. Recently I've built a bike on 936 frame and even with some low-cost and used parts I was about to hit $2150 mark. As Draz mentioned before, you don't need top level suspension, but if you want it to fit you perfect, you should be ready to dive deep into tuning, probably even into re-shimming your damper. And dropper post is a must for modern geometry mtb.

Re: Damn, cracked seat tube. This should be a fairly simple repair and it can be done at home. All you need is sand paper, carbon fiber fabric and epoxy. Wet sanding should be preferred over dry (and if it is not possible, wear a respirator). Wrap upper part of seat tube with 3-4 layers of carbon fiber fabric (applying epoxy on each layer) after removing the paint, and this will be enough.

Also it will be a good idea to drill a small hole in the end of crack (you'll see where exactly it is located after sanding) to prevent further crack growth.

Re: Damn, cracked seat tube.
Thanks Zomb1e. I've seen where people have used progressively smaller pieces of carbon fiber and progressively larger pieces to cover the damaged area. What do you think?
This is good idea in terms of saving weight and cleaner look. But I think that after applying small pieces of CF you should do at least two full wraps over seat tube.

Re: Carbonda fm936 Thoughts
You can see this in the statements you keep reading: tendency to recommend a larger frame with a very short stem; search for more suspension travel,
Wrong. This is frame with "forward geometry", and it should be used with short stem. Slack head angle + long stem = worst steering ever.

I think: the real spirit (from the manufacturer)   is XC with 100/100mm!
...and constant pedal strikes on every tech climb  ;)
