29er / Re: Anyone ride rigid?

Wow, that does look scary. I think that's one of the first major failures I've seen with the Chinese carbon. Could we get some more details about how this happened? I'm guessing there had to be some impact of some kind for this to happen, and not just normal riding stresses?

Yep, gotta flip that post. Otherwise looks like a solid, well thought out build for a reasonable cost.

Glad you included the spec sheet including price. If one wanted to replace the Reba fork with a carbon rigid, then they could easily build a full carbon hardtail (yes, rims too) for under 2k. That's frkn sweet considering I remember just a few short years ago when I was looking at a similar build (actually, some of the components were lower quality) that would've set me back over 4k.

Hopefully it will get to the point to where we can build the above bike for around $1500. I thinks that's a sweet spot for a lot of casual MTB riders.

It honestly looks ok to me too. I say as long as the bearings seat correctly and everything, I wouldn't worry about it.

Fat Bikes / Re: Couldn't help myself

Hey thanks for the reply and additional pics. I'm really surprised that the weight is only 25.5 lbs for a fat bike with suspension fork. I was thinking more like 29 or 30 pounds. Good to hear that.

^^ Very Nice! Loving the silver paint with blue rims. I assume that's custom paint from from the vendor? Happen to know the total weight? And what are your ride impressions of the fatty style bike?

Sorry so many questions.

Look nice (wheels and the bike). I'd probably go with those same hubs. Mind if I ask how much they cost you?

Vendor Discussion & Reviews / Re: Chinese Carbon Vendor List

Yoeleobike.com is a nice website.

Agreed. This is probably the nicest website of all the Chinese carbon vendors thus far.

One thing though. I wonder why they have pics on their site of guys riding name brand bikes? Maybe I'm missing something but that doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.

The more the new store sounds like a legit online frame maker ( WHICH it is)the better.

Marketing. The long missing piece in the carbon Chinese MTB import scene.

Just wanted to post, for those who may stumble across this thread, that this was all resolved.. Frame was delivered. Ahija posted about it here: http://chinertown.com/index.php/topic,526.0.html

Ok cool. Thanks for the update! Good to know it came through. Looking forward to seeing the finished build!

^^ I think you posted in the wrong thread?

Assuming you meant to post in your thread about waiting on your frame to arrive? : http://chinertown.com/index.php/topic,519.0.html

Good thread - I've also been looking into these "chiner phones". The prices are sometimes cheaper than the subsidized price that AT&T and other major carriers offer you for signing a new 2 year contract, and like already stated, the phones are getting good reviews. Really close to pulling the trigger on one of these, and I'll post a review and my general thoughts on the device and the ordering process, if I do. Would be cool if you guys did the same! Looking forward to spending a couple of hundred bucks and have the latest tech in my phone without being committed to a contract.

It seems skipping the middle man and using the web to transact directly with manufacturers in China is going to be a trend across the board in a lot of industries. Will be interesting to watch, for sure.

Dang, really? 24 pounds? That's light. Pretty awesome that you can build a carbon full suspension 29er at sub 25 pounds for a reasonable price point.

Hard to say for certain. Semi educated guess?? 26 pounds.

Cheaper than China.

To be fair, I'm sure they're still made in China (?).

Either way, yeah, those 50 grams aren't going to make a tiny drop of difference - Those are some really nice carbon wheels with top-notch hubs at a great price. Good find, man! Surprisingly, I even really like the graphics on them. The red looks great. I usually always remove decals/graphics on rims but I think in those I'd most likely just remove the "29" on each side to make it slightly less busy looking. But that's just me.

You'll love having your own personally custom built bike man. Especially since there's no rush on the build. Keep us updated!
