Re: Welcome to Chinertown - Introduce Yourself! Hello
I'm Patrick from France (near Paris)
I just discover this great forum while looking for a new MTB frame. But I'm not new in Asian bike as I buy a titanium frame from XACD in 2003 and full suspension from Carbonal in 2014 (see image below).
I will start a new post in order to get your feedback on my quest.

Thanks
Patrick

Re: Carbonda Gravel Carbon frame CFR707 Some pics of my build. Waiting for headset & flatmount bolts. (I reused most parts from my previous build.)

Re: cybrsrce AM831 build Finished with the seat tube bore, that was a chore.  Reamer tool worked great except it was about 20mm too short so I had to remove the handle and rig up a big wrench and a 3/4in socket with some metal to shim it from slipping.  Took me about 3 hours but seat post can shimmy all the way down to the collar so mission accomplished.  Just a note, the 170mm Reverb AXS has about the same height of total exposed seat post as a 210mm OneUp v2.
All clear!

Proper height

Got the generic banjos for the calipers, they're aluminum and look pretty nice.  They have an integrated barb but the olive was really thin and hard to get over the braided hose.  I had to shave off some of the outer housing to get them on.  Seem to be good, at least no leaks.

Some dirty oil from the rear bleed, front was even darker.

Half ass cockpit shot, levers are just hand tight from bleeding.

Re: FM1001 / FM1156 - 135mm frame Here is my bike-build. Made my own logo and painted myself.  :D
Running NX drivetrain, Fox 34, Fox DPX2 and SLX brakes. Very happy with the bike so far.

Re: Carbonda Gravel Carbon frame CFR707 Took the bike out on one of my favorite loops. Feels awesome! Great traction on steep climbs with loose dirt. Really zippy and comfy.

Some more frame specs:

Headset: IS52/28.6 | IS52/40 (I'm using a Ritchey comp cartridge headset: https://www.bike24.com/p2106612.html, https://www.bike24.com/p2510554.html)
Rear axle: 173mm M12*P1.5*L15 (carbonda's weighs 40g)
Front axle: 120mm M12*P1.5*L14 (carbonda's weighs 29g)

Seatpost wedge: 36g (I torqued to 5Nm + carbon paste around the part of the seatpost that contacts the round section of the seattube).
The seatpost head is a nice design, but definitely torque those bolts well (I went up to 8Nm with some loctite. They are mounted upside down. On my first ride I probably didn't tighten them enough and they came loose, but everything staid in place.)

Re: Velobuild VB-R-168 Frame Hi all!  I have been lurking this thread for the past few months while deciding if I should go ahead with building my own bike, and whether to get it from Velobuild. Really helpful tips so far and definitely helped with my decision to make the purchase! I finally decided order a VB-R-168 from Chris, in Matte Chameleon Green colour. I thought it would be useful to share my experience and two-cents on the bike building process. It was one rewarding experience to finally be out riding on your self-build bike!

Size: 52
Groupset: Ultegra R8000 Hydraulic
Disc: RT800 140mm Front and Rear
Handlebar: 400mm/90mm
Wheelset: From Taobao 60mm Depth with Hubsmith hubs
Tires: GP5000 TL
Saddle: AliExpress power saddle lookalike
Pedals: AliExpress Lollipop pedals

Weight: 8.2+Kg there about

The building of the bike was not too difficult, just gotta do research and watch youtube for bike building process, tips and tricks, note the torque settings of the various components. The most tedious of all would be the internal routing. I routed the cables through the handlebars first, followed by the rest of the routing through the frame. Used an old brake wire to help with the guiding of cables through the respective cable holes.
The FD cable stop was some what tricky, I had to file off the edges to get the cable to fit in to the hole. There is a small bracket to secure the FD cable stop into, it is rather flimsy and mine broke off. I had to fit it back into the frame from the bottom bracket hole, and screw the cable stop into the bracket. (sorry i didnt have pictures to explain it better).

Another problem I had was that the headset compression ring not being able to sit squarely into the bearing, I had to squeeze the compression ring inwards a little (with a lil force) for it to sit properly into the bearing. Otherwise there would be large gap between the headset spacer and frame.

Otherwise, rest of the installation was rather smooth!

This is my first full carbon bike with deep wheels, so I cant exactly do any comparison. In general the bike rides really well, with much better handling, and maintains speed better.  Overall very happy with the whole build!

Re: Carbonda Cfr 1056 Nice wheather yesterday here in greater Stuttgart area, so i took the chance to... no, not ride:-( but to take some pics of the (95%) final state of my 1056. I changed the stem several times; now with a Rose Race Attack I'm pretty satisfied as it matches well the frame tube shapes (flat at the top) and the matte color. Setup is "full mechanical" incl. brakes (TRP Spyre SLC). With 160mm front and 140mm rear the performance is fine for a road bike; a bit more would alway be nice (heard of magical "ceramic" pads from the far east ;-)). I tried to run the cables as smooth as possible. With the nice polished parts at the brake calipers and the crank brothers pedals I tried some aluminium bottle cages; from my point of view it matches quite well. Anyway with bottles in them you won't really recognize them anymore... Some plotted decals to be done including giving the baby a name. I think of "1a n3ra" (read: la nera") and make some fun out of the "13" raplcing "lE". Main thing is: color or black reflective? And if color: which? A well known member of this forum is supporting me strongly, but I'm still undecided...

My Bigrock 27.5+ Build What started out as a budget commuter bike ended up with me becoming a weight weenie. Well, not really, compared to the actual weight weenies. My wallet is definitely lighter though. Short review below:

Communication from the seller was very good by aliexpress standards. Most of my messages were answered within a a couple hours. Initially I was leaning towards the tantan/seraph fm199/299 but 17" was out of stock and they weren't responsive. The bigrock frame was on backorder and I asked for no decals so it took around 15 days to ship. They asked if I was ok with the small decals and I said I was, thought they meant the generic ones but they ended up putting their small logo on the top tube which wasn't shown in the pic for this color listing. So i'd ask for no decals at all to be safe. Also I asked them to declare low but they didn't tell me they won't, so I had to pay tax. Apparently their tax free is only for the EU. When I ordered it was around 500 usd incl shipping for the 27.5" and these guys seemed to be the only ones selling it, however it got stuck in customs for 2 months(not the sellers fault) and now lexon is selling the exact same frame for about $100 less -_-.

It came in a solid box with foam on contact points. All the usual stuff is included + they include 2 'gifts' which you can choose from a few of their other items like seatpost clamps and top caps. There are no Rubber grommets on the frame so I assume its meant to be routed with full outer housing. It didn't come with placeholder tubing but routing was really easy. The holes are pretty small so if you're using a cable and a ferrule to route the brake you'll have to pull off the ferrule through the headtube first. All in all it was pretty straightforward. As usual i forgot to weigh individual parts but the total weight is 8.4kg. It could easily be sub 8kg with a lighter/rigid fork

Re: Carbonda Gravel Carbon frame CFR707 I’m running 1x with full cable housing for the rear derailleur and hydraulic hoses, so I can’t comment on the front derailleur (I think some FD can accept full housing, but I’ve never installed one of those).

I did have to slightly drill out the removable plastic cable stop at the head tube to run full housing for the RD. I noticed the BB area had a removable contraption with a cable stop for the FD, but I didn’t pay much attention. So, I guess my comment is kinda useless, sorry :-)
