Component Deals & Selection / Re: Gorilla Brakes pads
« on: October 12, 2021, 10:21:52 AM »
How is the durability and reliability of those ?
Do they make noise ?
How do they perform in wet condition and also do they make noise ?

All pads I have tried, branded and unbranded make noise when wet until they get hot.
And some make noise permanently, probably when polluted.
Do you know some brands that never make noise ?

I'm not an expert, but the bolts all feel very solid when tightening them. I've inspected the inserts that I can see internal in the frame and they look pretty solid (rivet nuts? no idea -- as I said, I'm not an expert :-)). I hope to one day go bikepacking with this, but no plans right now.

It is a size S right ? What is the weight ?

my chainstay cracked after 3700 km and 42 km uphill :) I'm waiting for new ones under warranty.
Do you jump, high drops or other funny things with the bike ?  8)
Good to know that Carbonda keep remaining behind their products.

Should I check the linkage pivots or are they generally OK?

Pour some thread locker, I didn't and lost one screw this summer.

Component Deals & Selection / Re: What's your go to bottom bracket?
« on: October 08, 2021, 03:34:23 AM »
The sandstone breaks down to grains of quartz, among other things, and this destroys any bearing...
We have the same here, abrasive and often wet soil.

My conclusion was whatever you put(Hope, BB Infinite, WMFG, SRAM, stainless bearings,...), bearings die in a season if exposed regularly to mud.
I use now cheap disposable ones, changing them once or twice a year.
So I'm especially interested to know how yours will fare in the months to come.

From now on it will be Cane Creek Hellbender 110. Sydney sandstone destroys bearings that aren't well sealed.  Lifetime replacement gaurantee. You get what you pay for.

Interesting, how long have you been riding it in the sandstone?

I ordered the sigeyi power meter with cranks  + the entire  sensah empire 2x11 Groupset including the rotors, for 500usd on eBay. Thank you everyone
What brakes did you choose ? JUIN, ZTTO, ZRACE, another one ?
With JAGWIRE compressionless hoses, the braking is surprisingly good with ZTTO and ZRACE.
And the Sensah empire groupset is great too.

My CFR-707 size S is painted! External routing (externally from handlebar into frame). Rainbow color. Shipping via DHL (7-14 days) is $160. Paid by wire transfer.
Nice ! It looks like a sturdy bike, ready for everything.
I still have a hard time with the seat tube and seat stays junction.
CUBE Agree bikes have a very similar one.

I finally did it! I was sweating bullets but managed to tighten it correctly. I heard three loud bangs that scared me a little but I believe nothing was damaged

The crack sounds are normal when you press.
Maybe your bolt was too small to provide a flat enough washer, before a real press I was using a M16 bolt.

Yes, the ebay description says BSA DUB, but i spoke directly with the seller. he will send a bb86.
Maybe too late but here is a ZRACE crank with a Sigeyi PM:

I tested both separately and they are good.

What size is your frame?
Thanks @boybiskit too for the reply.

Nice bikes ! I love the design of this frame.
None of you had the problem of interference with the fork hitting the down tube when you turn ?
