29er / Re: Any information about ICAN S8 frame?
« on: September 28, 2017, 10:36:48 AM »
I asked ICAN about pricing and cable routing since there was no clue about an internal routing for a dropper post.

First answer was this:

Quote
For S8 frame, USD730/set (frame,headset,hanger)
Geometric chart attached ,please check ,which size do you like ?
If in stock ,we will send out within 1-3days after payment

For cable routing ,all inner cable routing, photos attached ,if you are not sure ,before shipping ,we will mount the cable for you like the S8 photo

So I sent another question only about the dropper post routing. The answer is the following:

Quote
Hi,
S8 frame could mount inner cable dropper seatpost
We confirm S8 has the design

Nice day

This frame look perfect except for one thing....2.2 MAX tire width. I can live with a BB92 instead of BSA but such a narow tire width isn't appealing at all.

I'm on my 5th summer on my FM098. Mine is 3K gloss and I didn't put any protective anywhere. No chips or anything so far on the frame and I don't see the point of adding any protection to it. It's a road bike frame after all.

Btw, it's a great and solid frame. I really like it. :)

I'm 175cm tall and ride a 17.5" IP-036 frame with a 80mm stem and 720mm bars. If it wasn't of the longer seat tube, I would have gone with the 19" and a shorter stem.

I've been using Ed Hubs with ceramic bearings on my road bike for the past 5 years and they are still working perfectly.

I think I didn't express myself properly. I'm talking about the place where the bottom of the shock attach. I want to see if there are holes for a remote shock cable. Is the dropper cable goes through there also?

Thanks! :)

Can you post a picture of the holes under the rear shock bottom mount please?

Thank you!

29er / Any information about ICAN S8 frame?
« on: August 02, 2017, 09:33:15 AM »
Hi, does someone have some information or comments about the ICAN S8 frame? My friend Google could not give me anything else than what is available on the ICAN Web site. It looks like a mix of the 036 with the M06.

Geometry numbers are interesting.

On my side, I've been using this as a replacement for Gatorade or any other drinks from the market this year with great results so far.

3 1/2 cup of water
1/4 cup of orange juice
1/4 cup of maple sirup
3 table spoon of lemon juice
1/4 tea spoon of salt

Thanks but I'm an organic/fresh fanatic :o No way I would eat or drink powder/tabs/gel I don't know where they come from ;D
But when I plan to ride hard and long, I found a very good site that teaches you how to make your own gel and purée.
It is quick to do, keep well in the fridge and cheap.

Unfortunately it is only in French  ???... Google translate made significant progress recently, so I post it anyway.

I make this purée, the sweet one: http://www.diet-sport-coach.com/pages/content/produits-energetiques/compote-energie-maison-version-sucree-et-salee.html#L8uBQtspGfQH28Cy.99

And this gel: http://www.diet-sport-coach.com/pages/content/produits-energetiques/gel-energetique-booster.html#u7eu5MYuZfcrWG54.99

I pour them in silicone bottles like these: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Free-Shipping-3pcs-Lot-Food-Grade-Silicone-Leak-Proof-Design-Travel-Tube-Squeeze-Refillable-Bottle-Empty/32373315663.html
That I put in my back pockets.
And they are easy to clean and reusable.

Alternating 1 purée / 1 gel each half hour.

With platform mode, I mean the "Trail" mode of fox, the "Pedal" mode of Rockshox or "Drive" mode of DT Swiss to name a few. The drive mode of my DT Swiss X313 shock reduce bobing on my IP-036 to nearly zero.

Do you think the bobbing would still be an issue with a platform mode on the rear shock instead of your fully open / locked out one?

I would add that most of the time you can't really try the frame before buying it so over analysing clearly is a good thing before pulling the triger! :)

After a few weeks riding this bike, how do you feel about it? Anything you would do differently? Still like it as much as after the first 2 rides?

Thanks!
