Re: Disc Brake Aero Framesets Allowing For Non-Proprietary Stem?
Here's one more: https://ritcheylogic.com/bike/headsets/logic-e-1.5-integrated-is-upper-headset
On order... I have big hopes on this one to make Juintech brakes work properly on one of my builds

Ooooh I like this one....

Re: Miraclecycling vs Yoeleo prices
That's quite the jump in price

Eh it's a bit of a jump but cost isn't the primary concern for this build. If I really think about it, ordering a frame from Miracle would be ~$900 after custom paint so the ~$549 price is a bit misleading.
Seka is starting to look real nice and at $1300-$1500+shipping depending on handlebar option it's not even the most expensive frame on my shortlist  ;D not crazy about the 12 week lead time though, we'll see what happens  ;D

Re: Speeder SC-R48
Why wouldn't the manufacturer have pictures of their own bikes?

Possibly because they never expected a group of cheap bike nerds to convene online for the sole purpose of figuring out who the OEM of a specific frame is  ;D

Re: Velobuild VB-R-168 Frame
Yeah I had this issue, was impossible to get the calipers to align properly as they were kinda twisted at an angle. I could get it so close, but never right. This week I took it in and got the mounts faced (cost $70 cad) and completely fixed it. Then I had the calipers set up and aligned in minutes.
At first I was a touch annoyed at Velobuild for not doing it at the factory. But since I have talked to a bunch of bike mechanics and they basically all said it’s just part of building up a brand new frame - regardless of price.
I think sometimes maybe we assume things aren’t done cause it’s a cheap frame from china. When in reality a lot of  these things and little issues are just industry wide. But when buying a complete bike, someone has already dealt with a resolved them. Obviously that’s just my opinion haha

Agree 100%.
To those of us with build issues, buy a brand name carbon frameset and try to build it up yourself...suddenly open molds won't look so bad, many of the same issues come up. The problem is usually us :)
I've also had caliper/rotor issues and I'm never able to get the rotors to line up as good as I would like no matter how many tools and techniques I use. The bike shop always gets them spot on, though. For what they charge to do the job, I can pass on the caliper mount facing for now.

Re: Velobuild VB-R-168 Frame
Do you think an unpainted frame has less chances of getting such problems? Maybe its related to the paint? I'm tempted to change my order to unpainted, if it solves these issues.

Doubt it. Bought my VB unpainted and it gives me more brake alignment issues than my non-OM gravel bike or my gf's bike. FWIW my gf's road bike is from a big brand (Felt) and is a bit easier to set caliper alignment, but it's still not "easy" and I'm sure it could be improved by a good tech (for both bikes). Maybe find a shop with the necessary tools and see what they would charge for facing?

Re: Velobuild VB-R-218
I am super excited, I just noticed that my L frame was shipped this afternoon..
but now worried as well. After seeing the BottomBracket issue on the youtube video ( https://youtu.be/-K3F-d4MlBY?t=2074 ) Hope mine arrives with a better-aligned frame.

Frame Size: L
Finish: Matte (Black Matte Paint / Carbon-look was not available)
Integrated bar size: 400/120

  • I ordered Sensah Empire 11-speed Aluminium.
  • ZRACE BR-005 Cable Actuated Hydraulic Disc Brake (I mistakenly ordered for my alu-gravel bike before I learn the direct-mount vs post-mount difference ;D )
  • DT Swiss PR 1600 spline 32 (I was about to order EliteWheels Drive 50 but wanted to give an Alu wheel a try first before such investment..)
  • Still thinking about what Crankset to use :
    • Shimano 105 with Left-crank power-meter
    • Shimano Ultegra R8100 (Looks beautiful ;D )
    • Magene P325 Power-meter enabled crankset
  • Full Carbon Saddle from AliExpress https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32751879676.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.0.0.b76e1802HUpTsz
  • Muc-Off CARBON GRIPPER (I read some good reviews)
  • Liqui Moly 3802 Screw Lock Medium Strength

I am also thinking about buying Bike Torque Wrench, but not sure which one to buy without breaking the bank.

I think there are many other things to consider. Anyway, I'll keep you posted.

I'm not sure where you are located but here in USA I just went to Harbor Freight (cheap hardware store chain) and bought a ~$20 torque wrench that has been working just great for over a year now. I have to do the conversion from in-lb to nm every time but it's no big deal. No need to buy an expensive one, even a beam torque wrench will do the job for a bike purposes.

For those of you looking at cable disc brakes... Oh Aliexpress...it's like you're always reading my mind. Look at what I saw earlier today: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/3256804206370295.html?spm=a2g0o.ppclist.product.14.6a719ofP9ofPRJ&pdp_npi=2%40dis%21USD%21US%20%2445.00%21US%20%2445.00%21%21%21%21%21%402101c84a16633692840361885e4ea8%2112000029019108399%21btf&_t=pvid:35417b01-aae9-49ea-ba7d-8fad668d4c26&afTraceInfo=1005004392685047__pc__pcBridgePPC__xxxxxx__1663369284

I've always wanted to try the Paul Klampers...are they as magical as the tales tell? At $200+ a pop that would be a very expensive experiment.
But now that I've found these...oh man. Time to build a new gravel bike?  ;D

Re: Race oriented gravel frame?
VeloBuild just announced a new CX frame. Tempted to switch over from my newly built GF-002 to the new CX-002 for the more race oriented geometry.

http://www.velobuild.com/products/cx-002-carbon-fiber-disc-brake-cyclocross-frame-1

sweet...unnecessarily aero tube shapes, but I like the geometry. I wonder if it comes with the same separate handlebar bar and stem option as their other integrated bikes?

Re: What is everyone's favorite Carbon fiber weave? I think that "painless" finish that Light Bicycle offers is dope. I'm sure others offer something similar
