Re: Carbonda fm936 Thoughts
Real seat angle depends on your real seat height
Effective seat angle depends on your real seat height.  Real seat angle would be the angle of the seat post itself, which doesn't change (other than different fork A2C or mismatched tire diameters.

Re: Suggestions on a; 165mm, 30-46t Cranksets with BSA Bracket I've got a ZRACE 165mm crank/BSA BB, Sigeyi PM with 110mm BCD (or they come with a 3-bolt to 110bcd adapter), and 46/30t chainrings from ebay (has to be special kind that has threaded portion on inner chainring, to fit a 30t with 110bcd.  So far around 650 miles with no issues.

Re: XC frame comparable to Specialized Epic Evo (110mm travel)? I think interest in this frame will be pretty low, because it's usually more risky to buy clones.  When you buy an "open mold" frame, it's often a design that several manufacturers and sellers will use, it's been engineered and tested, and there are a lot of frames sold to help refine the design (see FM936 being made by Flybike and sold by Carbonda and ICAN, then also retailed by Vitus, NS, Boltcutter, etc).  Often times clones aren't engineered, because they just copy the geometry of a known frame, but may not know the layup or material type.  This is just a generality, it's possible an open mold frame is poor and a clone is high quality, but that's not as common.

Re: Has anybody build up the Ican P13 yet? May be differences in quality and layup, but the frame is identical to the Carbonda FM1001, Flybike FM1156

Re: ZTTO Drop Stems I just got the 60mm version.  Feels high quality overall.  A slight burr or coating buildup that could dig into the handlebar that I'll deburr.  I'll grab some pics when I get it on a bike.  I was originally thinking of just using it to do a bike fit, then ordering either a real Syntace FlatForce or integrated bar/stem, but I'm thinking I'll use the ZTTO.

One thing to note is that I've read the Syntace stem measures longer than it's supposed to be, I think that they measure perpendicular to the steering axis (thus center of steerer tube mount to center of handlebar is longer than the length states).  The ZTTO stem appears to be measured the traditional way, a true 60mm stem with -20deg slope.

The stack height is only 28mm, so great for short steerer tubes, or putting used forks in big bikes with long head tubes.

Re: ZRACE RX dub crankset... preload? I've got this crankset on 2 bikes, one with BSA68 and one with BB86, both used with ZRACE BB's.  You are correct that there is no preload adjustment.  If I remember right, there's a wave washer to take up the slop, which buys you just a tiny bit of room for error.  I couldn't find info on which size spacers were needed where, so I installed the crank with no spacers and centered the cranks, then measured the gaps.  The gap was a nominal value which matched what was included in the ZRACE BB, and when torqued up with spacers there was no slop, but also no excessive drag.  So it worked out in my case, but I could also see that if there's manufacturing tolerances in the BB shell that there could be issues.

Re: Winow FS030 / TanTan Seraph FM038 Builds Not following you.  In any frame, the shock is the travel limiter.  If you take the shock out, the rear triangle crashes into the front triangle.  Unless you're referring to other frames having a seat stay bridge that crashes into the seat tube before the tire does?

Doesn't seem like this failure has to do with overtravel.  The seat stay just isn't strong enough to handle the bending forces put into that big cantilever at full bottom out.  Not a fan of that design in general, even if it was strong enough.  Often times the shock rear pivot is mounted to the upper link.  By having the seat stay be rigid all the way from the rear wheel up to the shock puts a ton of bending into it.

Re: New Carbonda 2023 The new linkage extends the rear wheel at top-out.  So BB raises a bit and the clearance between seat stay bridge and seat tube increases compared to the typical linkage.
