Cyclocross Frames, Wheels & Components / Re: True CX frame (not gravel)
« on: November 16, 2023, 06:08:21 PM »
I have had the flyxii 806 for a few years now.  One was setup in gravel mode and another in more of a road bike mode.  Loved it but wanted more tire clearance.  Will be selling off the last one (road mode) soon.

In our plan the rear shock is 210*55mm,
now we are change the design to make the frame can fit for the shock with big piggy bag.
with these changes will the shock size change or just have more room?

For those that have these.  How are you bleeding them.  I have the 2piston version and I can get an “ok” bleed but I can never get them to feel great.  I actually just went back to XT 8100s. But I would love to get these dialed for another build.

Has anyone set this bike up as a 27.5?  i have been looking for a frame to build up with some parts i have laying around.  i have 27.5x2.6 wheels and a 160mm yari.  the BB drop looks close to some 27.5 frames i have been looking at.

Jeff I see you installed the suntour edge lor , how is it ? Any trouble with the bashing kit?
Thx

Sorry for the late reply.  No I have had no issues with the bushings or anything really.  The shock is a bit noisier than a fox but I have gotten used to it and only ever noticed when just plodding along and thinking about it.

The length or RC will be 435mm.
the data is 450mm in the drawing because the drawing is for EMTB frame LCE971, the drawing of LCFS948 is no finished, so we have to use the old drawing to show it, EMTB request the longer RC.

Do you know what size the shock will be on the new LCFS948 frame?

On a related note, what do people recommend for removing the factory grease? I'm interested in finding the least nasty stuff that will do the job.

Hands down best option is buy an ultrasonic cleaner.  If you get a big enough one you can put cassettes and chainrings in there too.  Even jockey wheels and stuff if you are deep cleaning.

Keep the Spur, invest in a rear shock with remote lockout and some lightweight wheels with Berd spokes. I have Berd spoke wheels and in my opinion they are fantastic.

No comment on the XC-ness of the spur but I am a huge fan of the Berd spokes.  I have only had them build up my rims/hubs so I cant speak to their branded wheels but I can say that their spokes make for awesome wheels.  light weight and the damping from the spokes is actually noticeable in the rough stuff.  even roots and sharp edged hit have a bit less bite.

Road Bike Frames, Wheels & Components / Re: Flybike Asia FM906-D Build

Hello Chinertown! Long time lerker first time poster. Anyway, I bought a frame directly from Flybike Asia (FBA) the other day and it showed up recently. I figured I'd post my build here.

I have a Carbonda CFR696 that I've been riding for about 3 years now and, as I understand it, is just a subsidiary of FBA; Anyway, the 696 has been an absolute tank with very little issues, so I decided to go on a climbing bike build journey. I reached out to FBA initially to buy direct and never received a response. About a year ago (Oct 21, 2022) I decided to try again and received a response from adam@hz-fb.cn. He was great to work with and very responsive. The final cost breakdown from FBA is as follows:

FRAME -     $590.00
HEADSET -   $15.00
SHIPPING - $190.00
PAYPAL -       $35.00
---------------------
FINAL $830.00

Timeline was:

How did you buy directly from Flybike?  i have been trying to get a hold of them for a a few days now and i have not been able to get a response back.
Sept 5th - Invoice Paid
Sept 21st - Frame is finished and images are sent to me for confirmation
Sept 26th - Fame is shipped with Fedex
Sept 29th - Frame is delivered, packaging in good shape.

Details of frame:
Flybike Asia FM906-D (light weight version)
Size 56
Bottom Bracket BB86

Weights
Frame: 970 (derailleur hangers, faceplates, bottle cage bolts, etc)
Fork: 470

Looks like DIY Carbon sell the flybike frame as their Mach 5.5 imitation frame.

I don't have one so take this as you wish.  I know it says 27.5+ but it is actually a 29er frame, my experience with using these type of 27.5+ / 29er frames as that when you run them as 27.5+ the bb is too low and pedal strikes become an issue, particularly if you would normally be using 175mm cranks. Obviously dropping to 172.5 or even 170 mm does buy you a little more clearance but again, from my experience that is a compromise and pedal strikes still occur.
Dropping to traditional 27.5 wheels, even running 2.5s, is only going to drop the bb down lower still so I would not be recommending this.

This was actually my main reason for looking at the flybike fm336-b. It has the same BB drop as several other 27.5 specific frames at about -5mm.  The fm356 has a -25mm drop.  I think this would still be doable with a 170mm crank.  There are others bikes that have similar geo as a 27.5

Got some more stuff I forgot to post the past few weeks. Tubolight wheel inserts, Tubolight valves, Stans tire sealant, Shimano brake oil, Shimano brake fittings, Secret Chain wax, Sram foam grips, RYET 3D carbon Aircode saddle.

Had high hopes for the saddle but just isn't for me. It's nice and cushy but hurst my butt only after riding half a street block. Looks like for now I'm sticking with the Avocet O2 Air 40R I've had for almost 20 years.

I love the Ryet 3D saddle.  i have it on my XC bike and it is really comfortable.

XT F&R set is 574g at ~$225-250
LV2 F&R set is 413g at $265

So ~30% lighter at 10% higher cost.  Seems promising if they can actually perform. And XT/XTR is a high bar to reach in terms of braking performance and, more importantly, reliability.

I have XT on all my bikes and love them. But I was recently toying with the idea of XTR or maybe even TS Piccolas (for no logical reason other than I want light and high performance) so these were compelling.

Agree with everything. It is just hard to put down that much on untested equipment.  I had m9100's but switched back to 8100's due to the small pad on the 9100's. There is a definite loss of performance going to the smaller pad on the 9100's.  I like that the LV2's seem to use a bigger more XT like pad.

Does anyone know if there is a US supplier or will they ship direct?  I messaged them but no response yet.

They responded to say that the pads are metallic and this is the shape (see attached image).  I don't know off hand what style pad that is.

The price is $265 shipped to me in the US. They wanted to know if I wanted to be a vendor for them (not at this time).

At that price I would have to have a real hard think about these.  Shimano brakes work so well and while these are light they are not so much lighter than say an xt brake.
