Re: ZRace Disc Brakes I used the sensah 12sp shifters. Those are also working great (shifting is perfect on al gears except 1, but I guess that problem will be gone after I reinstall the cassette) ! I will post a review of my build later this week ont the vbr 168-thread

Re: wheelset choices - 50-60mm deep, 1400-1500g, bitex/novatec, sub $650 I m late to the party, but i've bought 2 wheelsets from Farsports, and i liaise by email directly. You tell them what you want, they quote you. For 650usd, you can get Sapim CX ray spokes, nice tubeless ready rims and light Novatec hubs from them. I wouldn't look at their website too much, they're trying to sell more expensive stuff that virtually nobody needs (ceramic non sense, untested carbon spokes, DT swiss hubs and so on).

A L-TWOO employee recently posted a thread sharing some anecdotes on the company's hydraulic development process. It's too long and technical for me to properly translate but you can get a basic idea with machine translation. The gist is that L-TWOO faced some pretty significant patent barriers which limited their design direction. They eventually settled on a Campy style design for reasons practical and legal: the vertical master cylinder layout performed the best and also left the most room for the shifting mechanism. But most importantly, Campy didn't patent their hydraulic implementation!

but now worried as well. After seeing the BottomBracket issue on the youtube video ( https://youtu.be/-K3F-d4MlBY?t=2074 ) Hope mine arrives with a better-aligned frame.

  • I ordered Sensah Empire 11-speed Aluminium.
  • ZRACE BR-005 Cable Actuated Hydraulic Disc Brake (I mistakenly ordered for my alu-gravel bike before I learn the direct-mount vs post-mount difference ;D )
  • DT Swiss PR 1600 spline 32 (I was about to order EliteWheels Drive 50 but wanted to give an Alu wheel a try first before such investment..)
  • Still thinking about what Crankset to use :
    • Shimano 105 with Left-crank power-meter
    • Shimano Ultegra R8100 (Looks beautiful ;D )
    • Magene P325 Power-meter enabled crankset

So, first off a couple disclaimers:
1) I may be selling Magene stuff in the future which may bias me. I'll try to be as impartial as possible
2) this is my first power meter, so I have no prior experience to draw from
That being said...

Accuracy: I find the accuracy to be good, at least to itself. Meaning efforts of similar strain always produce consistent numbers.  Similar efforts between me and riders with similar profiles yield similar wattage.
It tends to be about 5% different than my Turbo trainer power.  Can't isolate the offender. It could just be because the power is being measured from 2 different spots (crank vs the trainer) and the differences are just transmission losses.
The P325CS is very sensitive. Meaning it picks up EVERYTHING. This is very apparent on poor roads. Of freewheeling and you got a bump, itll pick it up. Micro adjustments to keep a steady cadence on rough roads? It'll pick it up.  Heavier on one foot? It'll pick it up.
One one hand greater fidelity is a good thing.  On the other, unless you are on smooth roads, your 3! Second power will still jump around a lot.
If I were to be very critical, I would still have to say they are accurate enough to train with
The only way to check accuracy for sure would be for me to get a pair of Assiomas as well

Chainrings: I hear the earlier chainrings were flexy under power. I can't confirm, as I swapped them out for 1x.
The mounting system LOOKS like a SRAM 8-bolt AXS Mount, but it isn't. One of the splines/bumps of the SRAM AXS system is smaller than the rest, while they are all the same size for Magene.  Swapping rings requires : 1) being handy with a round file, 2) making sure the new rings don't obstruct the charging ports.
Passquest does make Magene compatible rings now, but only for 1X. They might be other manufacturers doing this too. Not sure.

Charging/Battery life: charging is done using magnetic connectors - one for each crank. Super easy, would be nice if one of the connectors were reversed. Easy to display, harder to explain, but for the connectors to fit, one need to be upside down (due to the opposite directions of the cranks). By no means a deal breaker.
I have 5,200km on my 168, and o have charged the cranks maybe 10 times? And that was just out of habit.  I've never run them dry, nor have I ever seen them low on battery.

Thats about it!  They have served me well, and have been totally hassle free so far.

Re: Velobuild VB-R-218 I got the brake mounts faced last week, finished getting everything adjusted, and put 80km on the VB-R-218 over the weekend.

I'm not going to make any claims that I'm the most discerning rider, but I haven't found it to be sluggish or harsh. The final ready-to-ride weight[1] comes in at a whopping 9.945 kg, a full kg heavier than my Giant Defy and 1.5 kg more than my Canyon Ultimate in similar configurations, but it feels snappier than the Defy because of the steeper head angle, and is just as much fun as the Ultimate. If I hadn't seen the numbers on the scale, there's nothing about the ride that would make me think I'm riding a battleship.

My only complaint so far is that I decided not to wrap the cables with foam -- I've never had to on my other bikes, so I decided to forgo it with this build as well -- and that was a huge mistake. On the first ride the noise was distracting, but on the second ride I was more used to it. The internal cable routing was enough of a pain that I'm not going to take it apart to wrap the cables, but once the cables snap and I need to replace them, I will be putting in foam liners.

[1] Ready-to-ride includes pedals, saddle bag with repair kit, bottle cages, Wahoo, and lights, but not the water itself.

separate stem/bar if i need to switch things up
building up with a combination of sensah empire pro 11sp, campy cranks from my other bike, some sram and shimano bits and pieces ( I have no brand loyalty lol)
