It's been a while since the last post here.  Does anyone have more input on this now??

I forgot to mention that the seat post on my road bike failed.  My ITBS kicked in and that sharp pain in my knee had me riding home super slow on the sidewalk.  I rolled over a small crack while fully weighted on the saddle and the seat post fractured in the middle.  It really surprised me.  The two seat posts I recently purchased look a little more beefy than the old one.  Again, the failed seat post was purchased about 3 years ago so, even if it wasn't a fluke, China carbon has come a ways and I'm not sure it's a viable piece of info anymore...just thought I would mention it though.

I bought all my carbon road bike parts from them a couple years ago and the process was smooth for the most part.  They sent me the wrong fork and had me mail it to someone in the US.  Once they got the fork, they sent out the correct one and refunded my shipping.  One other thing...I ordered two different sets of water bottle holders and one of the sets was too short to fit a standard bottle.  Since Chinese carbon has come further in the past couple years, I'm not sure if this is an issue anymore.

Recently I bought a FR-211 frame, headset, bars, stem, 2 seat posts, and bottle cage.  I forgot to specify the bottom bracket and they emailed back promptly asking for which one I wanted.  I was expecting to wait a few weeks but got everything in just 4 days.  Crazy time!  They forgot to send the headset and after I emailed them, they replied and had it to me within a couple weeks.

If I remember correctly, they replied to all my emails in 6-24 hours.

I've compiled most of the hardtail data I could find into a blog post some time back:

http://bikingtoplay.blogspot.com/2013/11/chinese-carbon-bike-frames.html

After many emails to Carbonality, I finally got the detailed schematics for the Orion 29er if you want to add them to your blog.  Attached below...

The standover height is super tall for these frames.  Maybe Jonxmac can confirm this...

...and last but not least, attached is the 21" frame.

I can see it fine in Windows7 with Chrome, FireFox, IE10.  Try right clicking the chart and opening the link in a new tab/window.  That should send you directly to the chart.

*I uploaded a corrected chart. It now contains the standover height for the "Orion 29er S" and corrected "Effective Head Tube Angles".

Okay, so I used Carbon_Dude's template and created a spreadsheet for my potential frames.  It has several popular bike manufacturer frames along with 4 Chiner frames at the bottom.  For anyone that might be looking for the same, here are my measurements:

Height: 5' 8.5"
Weight: 165 lbs
Inseam: 30"
Purpose: XC race

For the "Head Tube Angle", I listed the given specs as "Head Tube Angle/Fork Length/Fork Rake".  For the "Effective Head Tube" measurement, I calculated what the ending head tube angle would be with a Reba 100mm 29er fork.  Someone correct me if these calculations wrong.

i know about the seat.. but it has my butt grove in it and it is comfy

The seat is the most personal part of a bike. I think it's great that you have a badass bike with the "exact saddle you prefer". It might just start a trend =]

Anyone have more input on this?  I want to make sure I have this head tube angle thing down before ordering the next frame....just not sure what the final angle is on these frames when paired with a 100mm fork.

I have a 100mm fork.  I'm assuming the calculator measures an unweighted, fully extended fork.

I'm going to blame it on information overload but I never really paid attention to that measurement.  I started looking at that measurement and this is what I came up with...bear with me if I'm all over the place.

For sake of ease, I'll use the 19"(483mm) 056/057 geometry since this seems to be one of the most popular frames.  So I just measured my fork just now, from the top of the crown, to the middle of the thru axle and it's 550mm.  Now looking at the 19" 056/057, it has a head tube angle of 69.5, measured with a 506mm fork, and wheel base of 1118.8.  After finding this calculator:

http://bikegeo.muha.cc/

...I entered in the measurements and it spits out a calculation of 67.42.  So does this mean that the longer fork would decrease the head tube angle, creating more slack with a difference of -2.08?  Then I picked the "Reba 29 - 100mm" fork from the drop down list in the calculator and it shows the fork only measuring 510mm, which then gives me 69.31.  This seems like I'm missing something here.  Giving the general rule of "20mm fork difference = 1 degree head tube angle", it seems like I'm measuring my fork wrong.  Has anyone measured their head tube angle (starting off with 69.5 degrees) with a 100mm fork?

29er / Frame dimension questions
« on: September 24, 2014, 01:25:44 AM »
I've got a few questions about frame dimension:

Have yall found the listed frame dimensions to be accurate?  Do some deviate from their listed specs or are most true?

Are the listed head tube angles from the various manufacturers based on a 100mm fork?

I've noticed that most of the China frames have short effective top tubes compared to their seat tube lengths...this brings me to the final questions:  Is the standover height also higher with these bikes (when matched with a longer seat tube)?  Does anyone know the standover height of the Orion 29er 15" & 17" (with 100mm fork)?

I went with vinyl stickers.  I found austin sticker company via etsy:  https://www.etsy.com/shop/AustinStickerCompany
They can do 3 color vinyl 'stickers' that act/feel like a vendor did it.  Also, they charge per 'sticker' - around $8.00 depending on detail.  On that, they can't do fine detail....but maybe send them what you are interested in and see what they can do.
Just noticed they are taking a break so may not work for you if needed soon.
I attached what they did for me.
Later today or tomorrow, I will post up a pic of what their stuff looks like before attaching.

Cool. That's exactly what I'm looking for.  I just wanted something on the down-tube that's basic but big.  I'm thinking just shiny black against the UD matt frame.  Is it the kind of sticker that you lay down and then pull back up, leaving the the decal?

I use this sweatband.  It works great, is low profile, and fits under your helmet super easy.  No more squinting and bad lines on the trail:

I got one of these in a raffle and gave it to one of my runner girlfriends that sweats like a hostage.  I'll ask her how she likes it:

What kind of place creates stickers?  I was thinking of starting off at a signage company.  Someone online said they paid almost $100 for a set of custom stickers, which seems pretty high to me.
