I have been using Easton carbon handlebars for a long time now and and I trust them but I never used a carbon stem...
Somehow aluminium seems to be a better choice for stems are the threads in aluminium inserts or straight in the carbon?

I am very happy with my Easton Haven Carbon Riser Bar, I went from 620 to 711 mm and it doesn't feel to wide at all.
There is just one narrow passage in my local trails that is more difficult with the wider bars.

Now I am looking for 90 mm  17 degree stem to be able to experiment with handlebar height.
I was a bit to radical cutting my fork to get rid of all the spacers.....

I ordered the Extralight Black Lock QR12.1 Shimano E-Thru axle but I have to find a M12x1.5 nut now...

The standard axle is 74,3 gr  and the DT Swiss RWS E-thru axle is 65 gr and perhaps the nut is not included  in this weight.
I think the weight saving is not enough...

I don't mind taking the BB out, another advantage of BSA....

Although.....I like my new bike so much that I want to ride it every day ;D

I would prefer a cable actuated dropper, easier to install, no bleeding and easier to take out if you want to have a light bike for a race..

Who can tell me more about drilling the FD entrance to fit a 4.5 mm cable??

I read here : http://www.frmbike.biz/index.php/en/mountain-bike-2/components/products-for-enduro/bolt-thru-axles-ing-detail that the thread of a Shimano 12x142 E-Thru axle is M12x1,5mm.

Vipassana reported that the nut on the Iplay axle is M12x1.75 so it is not the same!

So if I want to get one of these: http://www.extralite.com/Products/Black%20Lock.htm which has the same thread as the Shimano version I have to get another nut and I haven't found one yet...

I still want to get myself an internally routed dropper seatpost and I will have to drill the entrance meant for the front mech.
I read somewhere that there is an aluminium insert there????

I already had a cable in from the headtube all the way out of the seattube:

It will be necessary to remove the bottom bracket and the headset but so be it.

I would prefer a cable actuated dropper with 150 mm travel but the only one that is available is the Kind Shock Lev Integra which has a weight restriction: 90 kg
And thats what I weigh with gear.
The Yep Uptimizer is not available in 155 mm yet.
The Rock Shock Reverb Stealth is another option, I don't like that it is hydraulic..and I wonder how difficult it will install.

Are there any other options that I overlooked?

We europeans always pay more...

What about a Syntace F109 60 mm stem for my Easton Haven handlebar?

I ordered this:
http://www.amazon.de/dp/B0017SBH10/ref=pe_386171_37038021_TE_3p_M3T1_dp_1

It is on its way, I will report back with pictures!

I just ordered an Easton Haven handlebar:
http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/nl/en/easton-haven-carbon-riser-bar-2014/rp-prod119916

Now I need to get a light stem without weight restrictions about 70 mm and 6-10 degrees, any sugestions?

Component Deals & Selection / 635 mm wide handlebar not wide enough?
« on: August 02, 2014, 08:12:18 AM »
I decided to flip the stem on my 256 and when I examined the the clamping area of the 700 mm wide handlebar I noticed some pressure dents.

I have to send in the handlebar and have to get an replacement asap and I found a good priced Easton 635 mm wide Easton EC90 SL Riser Bar..

I have a 620 mm wide HB on my 26 and the 700 mm seems to be an overkill but will 635 mm to narrow for a 29er?

Nice bike!

I see your shifter cable goes into the frame not on the same side as the shifter.

My shifter cable goes in at the same side as the shifter:

This was the way the liner was on my Iplay 256, I guess Honsen's 256 liner routing was different or did you change it yourself?

I don't see any chainstay protection ?

I am in South Africa 4 months a year and on a lot of  trails there it is very nice to have a dropper seatpost.
Even in the Netherlands there are some trails that are more fun with a dropper imho.

It looks like the Extra-lite Black Lock axles require a torque wrench to prevent over torquing the nut. A bit inconvenient out on the trail and expensive

At first I didn't understand where you got that from but I just saw it is etched on the axis idself.

I personally don't have a problem with not using a torque wrench for these axles.
I will just practice with a torque wrench at home to learn what 10 Nm feel like.

Another thing is that the Rock Shox axle I also want to replace is expanding when you close the handle and this one isn't.
The axle of the 256 and the carbon fork are different, they just get shorter when you close the lever.
