Looking for the next bike build, and this crossed my eye, fits my geometry in a 58. Anyone know what this is meant to be a replica/pay homage to? It looks a hell of a lot like a venge but the geometry doesnt quite equal it.
https://yishunbike.com/product/r068-d/
-
I really like the look of that frame. The geometry however is anything but race-focused like the Venge LoL
-
The R068-D looks great!
Looks like the R096-D uses a traditional circular seat post clamp and still looks aero. Love it. Basically what I'm looking for, to eliminate possible seat post slipping issues.
Wondering if Yishun'll sell to individuals?
-
I wouldn't say it's not racy geo. Depends on your measurements. Venge is relatively neutral. If you've got a long upper body it's definitely not ideal though.
Yishun are LightCarbon AFAIK. So unless these are business only models, you should be able to order them.
But it's possible they may be B2B only.
-
Also why dont you look at the 086? It appears to be the same or similar mold to the TopCarbon 086, but with different forks and seatpost. This is very low and fairly long in larger sizes. 152mm delta between stack and reach in the 56.
P.S. The 068 also looks the same between LC/Yishun and TC.
-
its similar to the 086 and my issue is geometry, i need 400+ reach and 600+ stack without including spacers, handlebars etc. im 6'7. the yishun bike actually fits my geometry very very well, very comparable to the dengfu r12.
-
Hey, all. I know this is a dead thread, but since I am thinking about purchasing the R096-D, thought I would update here, there's a typo on the geometry table for the Size 550 frame. The stack should be listed at 576, not 557. I've also noted that for Yishun and I think LightCarbon, as well, their "Endurance" frames are more "lightweight/all-around" geometry, and the ones labeled lightweight are much more upright/endurance oriented. Thought I'd share since the cognitive dissonance that caused almost made me not consider them!
I've attached a couple screen shots showing the error and corrected geometry if anyone is interested.

I contacted Yishun couple of days ago regarding their R068D. B2C is available.
R086-D-54cm frame, it is USD610
included with frame/fork/seat post/clamp/integrated handlebar/headset/front and rear skewers/stopwatch holder.
XDB delivery cost USD90 from China to USA
Paypal payment fee is 5%
Total amount is USD735
Sadly this is will most likely be my next (and final) frame to test/review for cheap Chinese road frames. Reviewing affordable frames is fun of course, but I've grown tired of the compromises to my bike fit. I'm very particular :'( Super long reach, low stack. This is a personal issue and no fault of any particular brand. It's probably not profitable for them. I'm just surprised more people have not had similar fit issues regardless of how they plan to use their bike.
My current Allez Sprint size 56 has a reach of 398mm. I just replaced my 130mm stem (slammed) for a 140 and it just "feels right". Also my Winspace T1500 size large has a reach of 393mm and the supplied 400/125 integrated cockpit (also slammed) has an effective stem length of about 145mm. Again it just "feel right".
The Yishun R068D has some visual cues to the current DARE VSRu aero frame which debuted at The Tour few weeks ago. Similar-ish geometry too. A size 54 Yishun R068D has a reach of 402 and a stack of 549. For me this is as about perfect as it gets. Plus LightCarbon / Yishun has been highly regarded here so I'm hoping this frame will actually become a permanent staple in my rotation.

Confusingly, there is a R068-D and a R086-D model - buyer beware. (I believe you are referring to the 86-D model throughout.)
And agreed, it's difficult to find Chinese frame geometries that fall outside the Bell curve; I'm guessing economies of scale come into play here for the manufacturers.
-
Communicating with Melinda regarding this frameset, it's available from their Germany warehouse/hub, so it is 669€. + 50 for shipping + paypal fees. The Hygge Model S is roughly 110€ cheaper and comes with a nice paintjob, but I'm leaning towards build quality a d geometry of Yishun

Ordered one of these for testing.

Not yet mate. Still another month to go I think!
Got pretty much everything ready to go now, just waiting on the frame and a few other little bits I've got on order.

i'm also interested in yishun R096-D frame.
in size 58 is really close to the geometry that i'm looking for.
Anyone has additional information about that frame, in particular pictures of the full bike.
thanks

R096 or R068?

r096.
I ask to yishun and they were really fast to responde.
unfortunatly the frame is not in the warehouse and is not planned to build a small quantity so i think that i need to change my project
in alternative they propose 1018 frame, looks amazing but the geometry doesen't fit me very well (too much stack and to short reach, picture attached)

Was just asking since the title of this thread is Yishun R068D and I have some photos of those built up.

Have you checked out this? https://www.speedercycling.com/Carbon-Road-Disc-Frameset-SC-R48D-_p324.html it is similar in geometry to the 96
I’d be interested in seeing the photos of the built up R068D if you don’t mind sharing.

I’d also be very curious on pictures of built up R068ds if anyone can point me to some.
Even after quite some searching I wasn’t able to find any.

I will try to build mine in the coming weeks.

Oops I forgot about this, sorry. I'll just confirm with yishun if I can share these photos.

I might have to backtrack my statement: https://prorace.be/bikes/tofla/
I´d say the TCRF 068 from TopCarbon because of the spacer-set on the stem.

Yep prorace sell the previous gen r068d

I’d love to see the pictures once you get the clearance from Yishun :)
You seem to know quite a bit about Yishun and the R068, awesome!
If you don’t mind me asking a bit, what has changed in the new generation?
Is the new generation the one depicted on the Yishun website?
And stepping more into it might you be aware of the price for this frameseand do they still do B2C?
There seems to be contradicting info given even in this thread.
I read you are currently waiting for your own frame, did you also go with wheels from them or do you know if they are recommendable? Pat seems to be quite pleased with them judging by his awesome video on the RBD50Cs but as I’m super new to all this, I’m not quite sure what tradeoffs I have to expect with a wheelset like this in comparison to more established, 1k+ wheelsets.

mold changed a bit, geo a bit altered to be a bit more racey, not sure about layup changes. current gen in the biggest size on the yishun site is the updated version. prorace may sell the updated gen frame once their current stock is sold.
dont know about their wheels tbh, i went with farsports wheels since i've been getting farsports for something like 10 or so years and never had an issue.
you can email them direct to ask what they can sell you, it'll depend on your location. some frames can be sold to some places and others to other places, that's why it seems contradicting. also if they have excess stock in a certain frame and size, they may sell it to you regardless of which country you are in. if you do order and they don't have it in stock, you'll need to wait for their next production run and they'll add you in. if you want paint added to that, you'll need to wait for the paint run for that frame run.
not that it matters, but i ordered 3 stems (110, 120, 130) and 2 sets of bars- one from speeder (35 top 40 drop) and one from yishun (36 top 38 drop) to try to get the fit right for this build. i tend to do this with every bike, kinda think it's worth it.
putting shimano di2 on it because i'm still scared of the chinese electronic groupsets because they still seem shit, which honestly kind of hurts the value proposition of a chinese build considering that a used chinese frame is essentially worthless. if i just bought a giant tcr adv sl frame on sale, i can resell it down the line and recoup some of the cost probably up to the point that i'll lose less than the cost of a chinese frame. chinese frame has to go on the wall or in the bin.

This frame arrived. Might post some photos when built

Congratulations, are you happy with it so far?
Looking forward to your final result.
Did you have any luck with Yishun allowing you to share the pictures you mentioned before?

It's a good frame. We have a handful of other Chinese frames we are testing with at the moment, but the R068D is kinda the one I'm keeping personally because the geometry fits me best. It rides well, is comfy and handles speed well while cornering.
Some things below:
Bottom bracket hole was undersized by 0.02mm compared to what shimano specifies for bb86. So if fitting a higher end bb, this will need to be measured and corrected. I have a bore gauge and hone so this was easy, just time consuming.
The mating surface of the bb on the frame was not faced after paint. Not exactly an issue but I'd prefer to see this faced at least somewhat. Using a feeler gauge, I was able to get a 0.0015mm in at around 1/8th of the bb mating surface, the rest was flush, so actually pretty good.
Rear caliper mounts weren't perfectly faced super cleanly, although they were flat enough. Didn't make a difference in terms of assembly and the pads don't rub even with a 140mm to 160mm adapter but it's something I'd prefer to see.
We don't have any facing tools, so I did not attempt to face these freehand since sanding can make it a whole lot worse, plus the surfaces measured pretty flat and was a non-issue, but still I'd prefer these to be nicer.
Concentricity wasn't measured as this is then getting into specialist and quite expensive tools and it's outside the scope of this round of builds/testing.
No torque specs were supplied and were not supplied when requested. In fact, Kitty said she did not know the torque specs when asked. It's not a huge big deal since most bolts of respective sizes generally share torque ranges across the entire frame, but I found it strange that they did not know the torque specs to which they manufacture the frame.
The headset cap a few people here have sanded down does not need sanding. The split ring that sits in the bearing will compress down when the headset stack is compressed and remove any gap. I suspect people who have sanded it will have micro knocking in the steerer from an ever so slightly loose headset (which can be dangerous over time). The stems fit quite tight, so compression is a bit of a task and requires a bit of fiddling. This results in the headset cover appearing as though there is a gap if there isn't sufficient compression.
The front cap of the stem is alu not carbon.
The grommets supplied aren't really di2 grommets, they're more for hydro lines. I prefer a tight seal around the wires, so had to source alternatives.
The stem expander seemed okay and quite long, but we still used a Deda HSS 70mm one (as we do on all our builds).
The handlebars supplied were okay, but speeder's are way better (for me) in terms of shape. The top section is way deeper and the flare is bigger on the speeder bars.
The dropouts are solid reinforced carbon. This is a bit shit, the thru axles and wheels need to be perfectly clean every time they go on/off so grease doesn't attack the epoxy and soften the carbon (same reason you don't grease bearing seats in a carbon headset...). Plus I don't like the idea of thru axle threads going through a hole that isn't reinforced with metal. Can abrade over time if not aware of it. Plus I don't love the idea of 10Nm of compression without metal reinforcement. They assure me it's fine and the frame is sold in Europe direct and through few brands without issue, but I still don't like it.
The complaints above might seem like alot, but compared to other experiences with other brands, western big brands and chinese, this was actually a dream and it's quite good. Just being objective and realistic.
After presenting some of the above, Kitty urged me not to make any modifications prior to assembly and that everything had been measured prior to sending. Somewhat reassuring since the brakes and bb mated fine, but also concerning, especially regarding the undersized bottom bracket.
Will get a few photos organised at some stage.

I ordered recently R-086 (aero one from them). Got 820 EUR quoted.
In general, I like geometry and ride feel.
However, the very very big negative for me is the seatpost slipping down. I am pretty much freaked out at any decsent.
Support from Yishun exists, but I am not really sure they can solve an issue.
I will keep you posted if I have luck.

I have an r068d as one of my Chinese frames and have never had a slip. I'm 85kg-ish. I'm using peaty's carbon paste.
-
Make sure you torque enough & use carbon paste.
If it's a tolerance thing, then consider using a soda can shim, or some fiberglass cloth.
Also consider greasing the thread of the plug, especially if you've sweated on it. The torque shouldn't go into turning the screw, the torque should go into pushing the expander into the seat post.
Afaik, save for crazy exceptions, "all" seatpost slipping is fixable.
-
Thanks. I use carbon paste. I have used sandpaper, but not yet tried outside. Bought a threadlocker as the very last option if nothing works. Yishun confirmed the post I have measured is underspec and offered a replacement one. We will see if it works.
-
I wouldn't say it's not racy geo. Depends on your measurements. Venge is relatively neutral. If you've got a long upper body it's definitely not ideal though.
Yishun are LightCarbon AFAIK. So unless these are business only models, you should be able to order them.
But it's possible they may be B2B only.
The 3cm spacer stack must be factored in, it throws off the stack/reach ratio. No way around it.

Got the replacement seatpost from Yishun. Same story here, 70km ride, it is slipping.
Small piece of sandpaper did not helped. Carbon paste is still there and it is torqued enough.
This issue drives me nuts, otherwise frame is ok ...
