Re: Juin Tech GT-F brake calipers (dual piston)
I don't like this as it appears to be scientific but their are a lot of uncontrolled factors.  Like human reaction, the lack of exact timing, exact pressure put on the breaks,  even the how hydrated he is could influence weight. or How hot the rotors started off between stops.  maybe even how much he trusted the brakes to pull on them.

To accurately test them with repeatability and to eliminate factors.  You would need to make a rig to test them. spin them up to an exact speed, and pull on them an exact amount. and do it hundreds of times. then average out that data. after removing any thing that more than 5% of medium number.

then we are talking about science.

Agree, but if you find someone who’s willing to go through all that for the clicks, let me know.
No one in the industry is going to do it (this industry thrives on marketing cherry-picked data and biased studies). So, all that’s left really are highly subjective user experience and uncontrolled experiments…

Re: TanTan FM10 BB Delamination - Warranty Claim
I used the bottom bracket that came with the frame.

You seem to have missed the rest of that comment.  You know, this part "Not saying that is your fault, could easily be from a BB shell that is out of tolerance."

Re: What's your ERC(Every Ride Carry)? Show me what your ride kit looks like.
  • Tube patch kit (in case I can find the hole)
  • Tube (in case I can't)
  • CO2 inflator
  • Two CO2 cartridges
  • Tire lever
  • Kool Stop Tire Bead Jack
  • 7 mm allen key for thru-axle
  • Extra quick-link for chain

It all fits nicely inside my saddle bag, except for the tire bead jack, which I carry in my jersey pocket. The hand roll method is nice, but I seem to get a flat once a month and the bead jack turns the entire tube change into an effortless 5 minute task.

Re: Tideace 2022 29er Boost 12*148mm New Mold MTB029 And here finally my report on the two builds based on this frame.

First the frame quality. As you can see in the pictures.
The finish is so so... But ok, it is a relatively cheap frame.

The top and bottom headset cups were, how to say that... kind of rough?
And a quick look inside show wrinkles and carbon sheets going out everywhere.
Glad everything is closed now, so it does not exist anymore  ::)

Then comes a funny thing about the brakes.
This is XT brakes, quite standard.
At the rear, there is a fillet between the seatstay and chainstay that prevents the caliper to move outward as it should to avoid disc rub.
File the carbon fillet was probably not a good idea, so... yeah... file the caliper  ???
When asked, Tideace confirmed me this was the... solution  :o
And since we are at it, face the mounts maybe be necessary...

And finally the crank. It is BB92, which in itself is a bad news, but ok.
The frame is apparently designed for the Shimano's wide chainline of 56.5mm. Is this for DH ?
Thanks Tideace for not advertising it as such !

With a normal XT crankset, or SRAM a 32T ring will touch the chainstay...
So I did put a 2.5mm shim on the drive side to push the ring a bit outward.
The chainring clearance is bad but i got a 52.5/53mm chainline which is not ideal but ok.
I asked them some clarifications about this, but got you know... the typical non-answers, so classical when us indelicate occidental folks try to know why things do not work as we expect.
I may ignore an important thing about the Shimano 56.5mm chainline, but I can't understand how a 12sp cassette would work correctly with such chainline.

The FM-009 was a very nice frame, I'm less impressed by this one unfortunately.

Re: Any cheaper alternatives to Park's fancy allen wrenches? Don't fall for the silly marketing associated with cycling tool brands, and terms like "shop quality"

There are companies, like Bondhus, that supply aerospace and automotive factories (I've seen them there). A set of their t-handle hexes start around $50 USD. If it's good enough for the people that put together the planes your fly on, they'll be more than fine for your open mold bike, or any high end bike.

Just look for a set that is comfortable, is long enough to reach the things you need (like water bottle cage bolts), has a lifetime warranty, and preferably get them from a local store where you can deal with any warranty issues that come up (should be rare in my experience). I would spend around $30-60 USD for a set, and use the savings elsewhere.

Re: LCFS947 - 160mm 4-bar 27+/29 So this is my LCFS947 so far. Still waiting on some parts so it is not complete. But damn am i happy with the colour! Was trying to find something like the Öhlins yellow but with a pearl/metallic effect and found a Porsche colour that looked right. My first diy paintjob and is super happy.
And being a swede i had to splurge on the Öhlins suspension..

Re: Groupset News There's a bunch of news hiding in what looks like plain sight in Ltwoo's updated catalogue:

http://www.ltwoo.com/en/col.jsp?id=175

On the MTB side, there's a new 'T' series of shifters/derailleurs with clutch rear derailleurs. These are across the range, going from 8-13 speed. There's also the semi-electronic shifters as has already been shown.

For gravel, there's the new shifter shape available in 1x12, with brake calipers (as has been leaked previously). There's also a new rear derailleur with a clutch that comes over from the MTB line, but has been redesigned to take a barrel adjuster which is across the range from 9-12 speed. All other components remain the same.

On the road, the new shifters are available in a 2x12 version, with aluminium or carbon blades.

No separate brake caliper listed so I assume it's the same as the gravel one. No other new road components, and the new lever shape is only seen on the 2x12 hydraulic content, everything else remains the same.
