Re: Chinese forks Wouldn't bother with chinese forks if I were you. There is a guy on youtube (Wolftick Videos) who does reviews on them. The Epixon/Raidons you find on Aliexpress or ebay are much safer bets.

Re: Chinese forks
Pity as the Chinese have decent alternatives to just about every other component, can't fathom that they haven't cracked a half decent fork.

I'm still waiting for decent chinese hydro brakes and a derailleur with an actual clutch.  :-\

Re: Koozer custom wheelset The XM490 hub has a pretty good reputation. I'd suggest opening up the hubs and make sure they're lubed well upon arrival. The no name spokes are a point of concern. Have the spoke tension checked before hitting the trails. I'd do that with any wheelset tbh.

For the price, I hope you get at least a solid season or two of riding or a couple thousand miles...depending on how much you ride.

Re: Titanium Gravel bike: PYTitans build thread Thats a great looking build! Did you have to source your own fork or was that part of the deal with PYTitans? Paint job on it looks fantastic.

Re: Do you guys get crap from friends for building a chiner? My first chiner was a road bike from velobuild that I put some higher end Campagnolo parts on. A local curmodgeon warned me that the head tube was going sheer off. Thats what happened with some of the original chinarello knock offs before the direct to consumer market got serious. That told me this guy had done 0 research and just liked to spread fear. He's really the one one who hated on it. Even my local bike shop was cool with it.

I rode that bike for several thousand miles before selling the frame to another local who rode it for another several thousand miles before selling it to another local guy. That frame is still rolling under its 5th owner and thousands upon thousands of miles later.

Re: Aluminium Gravel Frame
Sonder sells the Camino AL frame for $360 USD. It's not that much cheaper than an unbranded carbon frame, although it has massive tire clearance and a progressive geometry.

I was using the Camino as a price guide to compare a possible Chinese build. Camino WAS a great deal...but prices have seem to have shot up drastically. Camino frame is now $650. Its renewed my search for cheap alu frame or might send me the carbon route.

BTLOS Wheels Finally pulled the trigger on some BTLOS wheels after a few months of research. Found a coupon that took $80 bucks off their already reasonably priced wheels. Couldn't pass up on that deal!!! Just thought I'd pass it along if anyone else is looking for wheels.

*Coupon is now expired*
I'll update this thread with the rest of the process.

Re: SUNRIMOON Helmets I think they both look terrible, so I'd go with whichever provides more ventilation.

Re: Welcome to Chinertown - Introduce Yourself! Guess I should formally introduce myself.

Hi, I'm David from Texas.
I've ridden a few Chinese carbon road bikes and wheels, but switched to mountain biking due to pretty terrible drivers in my area. After doing lots of maths, crashes and research, I'm fairly certain I'll be sticking to alloy frames.  ;D
However, I did just pull the trigger on some BTLOS carbon wheels for my mtb.

I'm also now toying with the idea of a carbon frame to settle my gravel curiosity. Thanks to everyone who contributes to this site!

Re: Clipless Pedals I don't think aliexpress clipless pedals are worth savings when compared to lower end shimano, wellgo, or exustar (amongst others).
Some may be fine, some will be trash.
