Re: Interesting Aliexpress finds! - good deals, interesting stuff, new products etc!
Looks super nice. Cycling has become a dentist sport, the margins on many of the components are insane. The pictures on your link look like very well machined aluminium. Most likely, the real ones are made in china. You take a block of metal, launch a well calibrated CNC machine with the right drill bit and voila. It's not rocket science. The question is more whether what you receive looks like the pictures, i'd say. If i were in the market for such a crank, i'd get it, looks awesome.

I concur on most parts probably being made in china anyways.  Take this interview with one of the guys at Ritchey (minute 7ish) 20-30 people in the company are located in china for manufacturing and there are less than a dozen people in north america and europe.   The trick (at least as I found to be the case working in several businesses that dealt with creating chinese components and end products for sale) to getting quality out of China is being there and being strict with QA.   Its a whole truck load of worms to unwrap in overseas manufacturing and this isn't really the place for that discussion.

edit,  link doesn't show up for me, go here; Youtube Channel "The Bike Sauce", Video title; Why Ritchey Steel Frames Ride So SMOOTH!

SOLD: 52cm Carbonda CFR 707 SRAM Rival AXS XPLR Build - Phoenix,AZ Hi all,

Built in October 2022, I am selling this brand new custom built gravel bike build. It has been a super fun build.

Frame is a Carbonda CFR 707 - This is a popular frame and is honestly a lot of fun. Carbonda make bikes that are later just rebadged and sold on - for example, brands that sell this frame: 1816, Boltcutter, Forwards, etc. I knew I was going to custom paint mine and build from the frame up, so I purchased directly from the Carbonda instead of going through a third party to buy a fully built bike. For instance, here it is from Boltcutter: https://boltcuttercycles.com/.../fresh-high-country-gravel

Happy to talk through the process and my experience with Carbonda - this is the 3rd bike I’ve owned from them, and built up a few others for friends.

Handlebar: Fully integrated carbon cockpit. No cables! Wrapped in 4mm lizard skin gravel tape.

Groupset: SRAM AXS XPLR with Powermeter

Wheelset: Lun GRAPID 38mm Gravel Wheels

Tires: 45mm Maxis Rambler (tubeless)

Seatpost: Canyon Split Leaf Gravel Post no

Cages: Elite Bottle Cages

Pedals and Saddle not included. SRAM battery and charger INCLUDED.

This bike is ready to rip. Geometry is extremely comfortable while still being fast and speedy. I put my road wheels on this bike to see how it would handle and this thing FLIES. This could very easily be your one bike to do it all, just swap wheel sets.

Re: Himalo Frames? Showed up today, packaged well and shipped in a box that is about the size of the front triangle.
It came with a super ugly headset (but free is free I guess), rear axle, and even rear shock hardware.
Welds look really good, paint is pretty good, no dents or other issues.
Without a shock - 8.36lbs (3.79kg), this is going to be a heavy build...

Re: Interesting Aliexpress finds! - good deals, interesting stuff, new products etc! Placed an order for Shimano M6100 12s groupset with KMC chain and 11-46 cassette. Assuming Shimano components are genuine, felt like a good deal. The cassette is a weak link (Sunrace) but if it runs for a thousand or so miles I'll be happy. Overall not bad for $97~. Fingers crossed.

Re: My experience with the Ztto Xd 11 Speed Cassette 9-42T I would just cancel and get a SRAM cassette...

Re: Onirii M2 and M4 hydraulic disc brakes So I received my IIIPRO E4, which are exactly the same as upgraded version of Onirii M4 (also available on Ali now). These brakes have perforated levers and tool-free reach adjust. I ordered them in purple color (and to be honest it was the main reason of buying them). Weight difference with my old 2-pot Formula RX is less then 10 grams for the whole set (and Formulas are heavier though). I haven't noticed any caliper flex, that was reported by German guy for M2 model. So far I've installed only front brake and made one short ride on mostly flat terrain. Conditions were not the best for brake testing (a lot of muddy roots and fallen leaves), but front brake seems to have enough power (stoppie without problems), at least with 180mm rotor. I also like short travel of lever (in this aspect it feels a lot like old Formulas produced before 2013) and its square-ish profile.

Re: SUNRIMOON Helmets For my store, the helmets are a bit of a bust.  Outside of those who regularly shop on AliX, such as us here, not much interest in helmets from China (which should have come as no surprise)

As for SUNRIMOON itself, the interactions could have been better.  I feel like a combination of them still figuring stuff out, and them offloading on to me - packaging came in different iterations from different generations.  The helmets themselves had different iterations for the same model.  For instance their TS-42 helmets arrived with different pads, retention, and fastening buckle depending based on updates they made to the helmet.
They also sent a handful of incorrect helmets, but did throw in a kids helmet for free for my daughter.

And for a small guy like me, ease of working with a supplier is just as important as the product itself.

The helmets themselves are fine.  I really like the current iteration of the TS-42, with anti-microbial pads, fidlock magnetic buckle, and greater retention system adjustability.

So, I'll be keeping some for personal use, and offloading the rest at cost to recoup some capital and deploying elsewhere.

Re: Himalo Frames? got one recently, took 4 days to get.

It was the 17" 27.5 version, with a 140mm fork the HTA measured 65.5, STA 76.5. I ran a 210x50mm shock and measured the rear travel 133.36mm.

Bike rides good, pedal like any trail bike with a Horst Link suspension.

Re: Frame pricing as a guide of quality If you are:

-Relatively fit
-Not racing competitively or regularly engaging in fast group rides
-Don't require some extreme frame geometry/bike fit
-Can manage your expectations by way doing your due diligence
-Understands the limitations (or lack of) sales support (pre/during/post)
-Adequate at building and troubleshooting bikes without being handheld every step of the way

Then you really don't need a frame costing more than $500-$700 USD. This is assuming you win the "Chinese Frame Lottery", meaning no frame/component defects and you receive all the required hardware upon delivery.

Plenty of reasons why someone would choose Winspace over VeloBuild and vice versa. Neither are wrong.
