Re: 29er XC Hardtail - Boost - Modern Geometry I ended up getting the Trifox. It does have 3 ports in the headtube, allowing for the internal dropper cable.

Overall, the quality is v good. I weighted the bare large frame at 912 grms.

Supplied seatpost is rubbish, a good bit less than 30.9, so loose in the frame and slipped during 1st ride. Dropper in there now.
The rear brake threads were tight, and I needed to add washers to the caliper bolt as the hole in the frame was not that deep.
The rear derailleur exit port was poor. I needed to dremel out the insert so I could feed in the outer casing.
I got the 740mm trifox flat bars, seem good quality and I weighed them at 152 grms.
Threaded BB is nice, 73mm so no spacers required.
2.35 maxxis tyres fit fine with good clearance.
The rest of the build was XT/SLX mix. Wheels are ztto microspline hubs with carbonbearm rims. 1450 grms. Snail china xtr chainring copy is nice.

Re: Carbonda Cfr 1056
With 4 „cables“ or only 2 meaning wireless group?
I am planning with Shimano 105, not sure if I should go for the fully hidden installation.
Apologies for delayed response - the integrated build was wireless, so just the 2 hydraulic cables running through the handlebar. Fully integrated makes for a really clean look. The handlebar, headset, spacers, and frame are designed to also accept 4 cables.

In my mind, the larger concern with a fully integrated handlebar is that you have to guess at the perfect reach dimension (and width as well, I suppose) sight-unseen on an also unseen frame. So this path may be best suited for folks that are: a) habitually lucky, b) happen to have measurements perfectly dialed, or c) are willing to accept that the first handlebar may not work perfectly.

Re: The Shiny New AM831 Group Buy (A) Thread! Back again with some comments on the upper link bearing mount.

On the left, the actual mount, to scale. On the right, the nearest correct way to do it - an elastic retainer ring holding the bearing in its recess.

This is a suggested (IMHO good) correction for the existing frames, to scale, using a standard pair of 6703 bearings that fit in the recesses for the bolt heads. Needs a new pair of bolts as drawn - I have a mechanic workshop in the neighborhood, and will check if they can do this and for how much. Probably cheaper if I can order a certain number of pairs. A minor issue is the tolerance of the carbon width (approx. 3mm) between the two bearings, and whether the inner race of the new bearing will rub against the carbon. I've ordered a pair of 6703s to experiment with.

Re: Carbonda FM909 This should visualize the different progression characteristics of the FM936 and FM909.

The blue line is the overall force needed to go from 0 to full travel.
The red line is the force needed to get the next 1mm of travel at any given point.

Both shocks are the same except for a slightly bigger volume spacer in the FM936 to match the overall bottom out resistances.

As you can see, the FM909 has a more pronounced "dip" in the late mid stroke whereas the FM936 is more evenly progressive. So with the same SAG and bottom out force, the FM936 will offer a better mid stroke platform and sit higher in its travel. Maybe the soft mid stroke of the FM909 has its advantages for an XC bike, but for down country, the FM936 should be better suited - also because of the 10-15mm extra travel.

Re: Carbonda Gravel Carbon frame CFR707 Hello.
I just ordered a crf707 frame, do you have any pictures of a bike built based on this frame?
There are very few photos of such bikes on the network

My Dengfu R12 - First Impressions and Video Hey All!

My name is Patrick. I've been lurking for a couple of months and finally have enough newsworthy details to create a post. Have not seen much discussion on the Dengfu R12 frameset, so I'm happy to share my first impressions and build experience. Included below is a 10 minute video of my unboxing and thoughts.

Here is what I currently own/have built for comparison sake:

Dengfu R12 - Just finished building this past weekend. Currently conducting test drives :)
Allez Sprint - Fully built with Winspace Hyper 65 rim brake wheels.
Yoeleo R6 - Fully built with Yoeleo SAT C50 wheels.
Winspace T1500 Disc - Awaiting build, with Hyper 65 wheels and Integrated Handlebars.
VeloBuild 177 - Just arrived today!! Will share my first impressions soon.

Ordering Process: Their customer support is decent and always reply to emails with 24 hours. They also answered every question I had from specs, to various options, and pricing.

Main criticisms -  I requested the 400mm/120mm integrated bars. They told me it was in stock. Two weeks later AFTER I made the purchase they said it was not stock, and had to go with the 400mm/110mm cars. This was quite frustrating because since I have a professional bike fit, my overall is very dialed in and I can immediately tell the 10mm difference. Also I would have loved to a rubber seatpost cover included.

Already I think I've been rambling for too long. The video explains everything much clearer. Im happy to answer any questions thanks!

Re: My Dengfu R12 - First Impressions and Video And here is the final build.

The decals/logo are my own design and I painted the frame at home myself: 3 coats of Dupi-Color Special Effex metallic paint and 3 coats of Spray Max 2K clearcoat. Wanted a little sparkle and protection while maintaining the "raw carbon" showing through.

The Hyper 65 wheels are intended for my Winspace T1500, but these will do until my other wheels arrive.

7.8kg without the PowerTap P2 pedals
