First time lacing a wheel. Man, this is a pita! You really need to be perfect with the amount of turns you make all around. Gunna take the first one apart and do over, tension is all over the place. I gotta say though it’s really nice having the Park Tools to do it.

Another one in the books. After a LC 917 and 2 Carbonda Gravels, my latest build. I didnt face any major issues (some of the other builds did…  )Its an M Parts: Fox Factory 38 170mm Fox Float X Factory Oneup Dropper Post 120mm Rims Light Carbon Enduro asymetric (would not take them again, build is a nightmare) Hubs DT Swiss 350 SRAM Transmission GX (from what i can tell absolutely great) SRAM Code RSC Light Carbon Bar AM 05 Lets pray all screws and bolts hold up

I gotta say though it’s really nice having the Park Tools to do it. I would HIGHLY recommend this book on wheel building. For the tiny investment it is worth it: https://www.wheelpro.co.uk/wheelbuilding/book.php I printed the lacing / build procedure chapter years ago and use it was a step-by-step guide so I get everything right whenever I build a wheel. I have built dozens of wheels, and still find this really helpful. Last used a week ago when building new wheels for my Miracle FS822 build (240 front / XTR rear on Dartmoor Tomcat with Sapim Lasers and alloy nipples) - and I'm very happy with my work! Workswell WCB-R-306
Because there's no topic yet for the Workswell WCB-R-306, I'll kick things off. In recent weeks, I've slowly been building up my bike. I didn't buy the frame directly from Workswell; instead, I found a good deal on the marketplace in the Netherlands. My impression of the frame is very positive — it's highly agile and well-finished. So far, I haven't encountered any downsides. The bike is equipped with : Shimano 105 DI2, crank: 50/34 casette: 11-34 cassette, Wheels: Elite Wheels (the specific type is unknown; I've had them for three years).  building up with normal handlebar:  Finished with Integrated handlebar  The handlebar is also from Workswell, the WHB-027. It's well-crafted and feels comfortable, but I've noticed a considerable amount of flex, especially when in the drops. It could be normal for a carbon handlebar, as I don't have prior experience with this material. I think it's relatively simple to make the handlebar stiffer by closing the hole at the top of the stem. I can't find a good reason for the existence of this hole.   Overall, I haven't come across any negatives so far, the only thing where i am still looking for is a seatpost cover, i have try the cover of an Tamarac SL7 it fits on the seatpost but dont cover the whole wedge   November 12, 2023, 02:44:15 PM |

I see you use the same name in MTBR as on this forum. Double questions, you should get a good answer on one of the forums. Your MTBR thread will probably have 50 responses by the end of the day tomorrow, and start drifing off-topic after the first 5 to 10 replies. Regarding your question, If I change components and put on a new chain, I often make the chain 2 or 3 links longer as a starting point. Shift it through the gears and see how far the cage travels. If it isn't tensioned as much as the old derailleur, I will remove a link until it shifts smoothly across the range of gears. I just recently swapped a long cage GRX400 RD for a mid-cage Ultegra RX800 rear derailleur on my gravel bike. No need to change chain length as long cassette and chainrings are the same. November 14, 2023, 12:15:29 PM |
