Re: FS830 Enduro Frame - Stef Biggel’s build Next step was putting in the Red Jagwire brake lines, the Hagwire gear Cabel and the RS Reverb 150mm. My frame is a 17“, the Reverb 150mm fits nearly complete inside. Only the last 2cm would‘t going… but i Think it‘s a Problem of the steat tube diameter.

I covered the Frame with dyedbro …. Holly shit i made it terrible, it looks so easy in the description.

Putting in the RS Monarch wasn‘t such easy, because Heideli write in the Alibaba description the shock end mont ist 8x22mm front and 8x30mm rear. But in true it‘s 8x22mm both. So got some sawing and filing job, with eye on Symmetrie of the spacers.

Re: FS830 Enduro Frame - Stef Biggel’s build The headset ZTTO and the Bottom bracket BB92 from ZTTO wasn‘t spectacular to implement. All the Pockets fitting well.

I Build in a Fox 36 Performance OEM Fork with 170mm travel

My brakes are Magura MT7 with Shimano XT lever. The connection with the Jagwire QF works realy fine:

So long guys, today the carbon Rims are arrived… i have to do some builing job now ✌

Barfly spoon mount for bike computer

Waiting for Rockshox Reverb AXS XPLR 75mm dropper to be available to replace the included seat post.

Quick build to replace my son's old college commuter that turned into a drop bar gravel conversion.
It went pretty smooth, there isn't a lot of room in the handlebar for cables and we only had the two.  I can imagine it might be rough to get shifter cables in there as well.  Otherwise it looks really nice with nearly no visible cables.
Used supplied headset bearings, they were pretty good.  The cover and spacers are an oddly fitting alloy two piece design.  Carbon would have looked nicer but it is fine.
Soooo many mounts on this frame - Three bottle cages, bolt-on bento box, accessory mounts on the fork, and full fender mount points front and rear.  It looks well thought out, I'm jealous.

Kinda crap picture, it was taken for him while waiting for him to bring over the old bike to move pedals.  If anyone is interested I'll take more (better) pictures the next time we ride or whenever the dropper arrives, whichever comes first...

Re: Do you guys get crap from friends for building a chiner? My first chiner was a road bike from velobuild that I put some higher end Campagnolo parts on. A local curmodgeon warned me that the head tube was going sheer off. Thats what happened with some of the original chinarello knock offs before the direct to consumer market got serious. That told me this guy had done 0 research and just liked to spread fear. He's really the one one who hated on it. Even my local bike shop was cool with it.

I rode that bike for several thousand miles before selling the frame to another local who rode it for another several thousand miles before selling it to another local guy. That frame is still rolling under its 5th owner and thousands upon thousands of miles later.

Re: Lexon "Riot 10"

My brazilian version of "Lexon RIOT" assembled with:
  • Sid Ultimate SL 100mm
  • SRAM xx1 AXS complete.(34T)
  • Sram Level Ultimate
  • Cockpit FSA Kforce
  • Chinese seatpost (700gms) with cable and lock.
  • Fabric Scoop carbon saddle.
  • DNM rear shox
  • Maxxis Ikon Tyres
  • DT Swiss 240 + Ztr Crest Rims
  • crankbrothers eggbeater 3

To lock the DNM rear suspension together with the Sid Ultimate I used the rockshox twistloc.
On the wheels, I mounted DT240 32H hubs because I have 110kg with zrtcresk mk3 rims.
(no one wants to take the weight off the cyclist, since the weight of the bike...  ;D )
The bike was 10.5 kg in its size "L"

About day to day use, the rear shock did not like, it reacts in different ways in different obstacles, it is difficult to adjust a perfect rebound. About the bike, as I said before, I'm pretty heavy, but I use it and abuse it on descents and climbs, the internal cables knock and make noise, the headset at first scares a little (I used it with 70 before) but with 2 or 3 laps around the xc circuit, I got used to it and had better times than with my hardtail.

I liked the frame.

Re: Velobuild VB-R-177 There is an over abundance of matte black frames in the market and on the road. Might as well be different…

Re: Velobuild VB-R-168 Frame I have a couple of road races coming up with significant amounts of gravel sections, so I have been trying to maximize the tire space in the frame. The split for one race is around 15% tame gravel/85% asphalt and 45% tame gravel / 55% asphalt for the other.
I have been looking for high volume road tyres with lower rolling resistance compared to gravel tires.

I currently have Vittoria Terreno Zero's in 32c and they are very puncture resistant but noticeably slower than a road tire (as it probably should be). Very good if there is a high risk of punctures or a need for more grip.

Schwalbe have a 34c model of their Pro One Evo TLE which I picked up. I mounted them on Light Bicycle WR45's which are 25mm internal (hooked). They measure 33,5mm.

Surprisingly there is still a bit of space. Obviously they are narrower than advertised but it probably also has to do with the lack of knobs and that the wide rim gives the tire a lower profile.
I would say if you have wide rims the bike could probably handle a 35mm WAM slick tire if you can live with minimal mud clearance. Anyone wanna sponser me some Rene Herse Bon Jon Pass  ;D ?

Re: FS830 Enduro Frame - Stef Biggel’s build Ok folks,
Before the weather becomes bad, I’ve done a testing drive with the new FS830. For my opinion it works fantastic, but you must understand I came from a XC bike with only 120 mm travel.
I ride a really short home trail behind my house, only a half of an hour with a few short steep hill climbs, a few little jumps and some steep and narrow curves … and it feels really great. Detecting no loose rear or things like that. Very direct reaction, climbs as well as my xc and it decent as the hell. It feels a little bit like the SC nomad from a friend of me.

So hopefully this helps the guys who are interested in the frame and I will give more experience when I’ve done longer rides.

Re: Titanium bolts They’re not cheap but I quite like the titanium screws from S-PARTS. I’ve only found them on sale through their official Tmall store so buyers outside of Greater China may be out of luck here. Though I’m pretty sure they have some international presence because Ti-Parts on Carousell Singapore is almost certainly supplied by them. S-PARTS is growing in credibility imo because many new high end boutique components makers from China are now using their screws. For example, the new EXS ULTRA-RR stem and VFV Deep-V seatpost both advertise their use of S-PARTS screws.

There is also a brand called RISK (probably also supplied by S-PARTS?) on Taobao/Tmall/Aliexpress that sells a smaller selection of titanium screws compared to S-PARTS.

Re: FS830 Enduro Frame - Stef Biggel’s build I had a longer ride today round the valley. This means 600 meter hight up and down. Unfortunately last night the weather was rainy. So all the bottom was defrosted and become very muddy. In this case we wasn’t to fast in descent.

A smile is still in my face. The bike works great. Riding over root-carpet damps great, slowly drive over Steps works good, i think its really direct to drive on narrow curves (hair needle). And i’m really surprised how good it is uphill, i haven't expected. There is nearly no bobbing in the rear. So it wasn't necessary to block the Dampers this ride.

I’m 176cm and the 17” frame fits perfect to me.

So my experience with this longer ride is, that the Link elements works fine and the rear weel is relativ stable by pushing it left and right by hand.

For torquing the link i used the method that JJJ has suggested a view posts before.
