Re: Lightcarbon LCG071-D Build No real hiccups to speak of. Had to run the shift cable and rear brake hose twice, as I didn’t have the headset spacers in place the first time. To my surprise, the cable routing through the frame was actually quite simple. The routing through the handlebars was a bit more difficult but still not bad at all.

I was surprised at the clearance with the 700x50c tires installed as well. Plenty of room for mud clearance. Bike rolls extremely well on them also.

My only complaint (and it’s minor) - the supplied garmin mount does not have the tightest snap in fit for the garmin head unit. It is a bit loose which leads to some unnecessary rattling when on rough gravel. I may try to put a small bead of flexible silicone in the mount to make the head unit fit tighter and hopefully eliminate the rattling.

Re: Carbonda Gravel Carbon frame CFR707 I finally got my CFR707 to a rideable state!

I've only put a few miles on it because I'm still getting the brakes and shifting fine tuned, but I like what I've seen so far.

I'll post a full build list later, but here are the highlights:
  • Carbonda CFR707, XL, with Carbonda axles and hardware, external routing
  • Montana cans paint, SprayMax primer and clear coat
  • Carbonda seatpost
  • Whiskey N. 7 bars, 24 deg flare, 46 cm width
  • Redshift Shockstop Stem, 80 mm
  • Shimano GRX STX-600 brifters
  • Shimano GRX FC-RX600 crank, 46/30 tooth
  • Shimano GRX RX810 front and rear derailleurs
  • Viaron 11-46 tooth cassette (very light, but noisy, so I'll probably replace this)
  • Maxxis Rambler 700x50 tires (currently tubed, but will set up tubeless soon)
  • WTB ST i23 rims on no-name hubs
Total weight in this configuration is 10.5 kg / 23.1 lb. I have some Light Bicycle rims and Bitec hubs waiting to be built up, and that should drop it to about 8.6 kg / 19 lb, depending in what tires I get.

No complaints with the frame quality or how it built up. I'm sure the external routing simplified the build and will make adjustments a lot easier.

Re: L-TWOO RX 2x12 road groupset The primary issue is that the ergonomics are still pretty substandard - looking at the experience of people on YouTube you can't reach the thumb shifter from the drops (and compared to a Campag lever it's much further forward). I would wait until the new stuff rolls out and see if they bring it down for 12/11 speed mechanical as they look have copied the Campag Potenza/Centaur droopy thumb lever which is much better positioned than the current version.

Re: Juin Tech GT-F brake calipers (dual piston) Did anybody try replacing break pads on the Onirii BR-05 or Zrace BR-005?
Seems to me that the suggested Shimano G03S are too wide to fit?

I made the practical test and took out the existing pads and could not fit G03S compatible pads since they are too wide.
Instead I found a reference that the BR-05 / BR-005 uses Brake Pads for SRAM DB1 DB3 DB5 SRAM LEVEL T/TLM.
Would like to try some other pads to see if break power can be improved.

Correction:
I measured the break pads installed in my Zrace BR-005 with following values: Height 29.5mm / Width 26.5mm / Pad only height 16.5mm
Result: Should be K04S compatible so ordered some Cooma BP944ExPlus-RS805 to try:

Here pictures of original pads on left and new Cooma pads on right:

After almost 1000km of comparing the Juintech F1 to the Zrace BR-005 the Juintech F1 clearly wins in terms of break bower and low heat fading.
So any improvements by changing the break pads would be a bonus.

Re: Juin Tech GT-F brake calipers (dual piston)
Maybe the braking performance would be much better on another bike where the cables don't run through the bars or headset...I should give them another shot on a bike that doesn't route cables like this, maybe on the gravel bike?

I can confirm your suspicion, paired with compressionless cable housings and non integrated routing (allowing gentle routing radius), the brakes feel excellent and offer great stopping power. With the Juintech F1's I am really happy but the BR-05 / BR-005 could need some extra bite, so other break pads are on the way to test.  ;D

Re: Any chinese Aero Gravel frame with bolts for bikepacking? As a fellow bikepacker, I'd strongly recommend going for a gravel bike. Not for the bolts (I only bolt on water bottle cages), but:

- Aero frames make 0 sense for bikepacking. As soon as you strap on bags, you lose whatever small advantage you could have gotten from an aero frame.
- Aero road bikes have a fit that's made for pro riders, not regular people. For long slow rides, you'll appreciate the comfortable fit of a gravel bike.
- When carrying bags, you'll want to fit some bigger tyres anyway, so you have more comfort and better puncture protection. For road bikepacking, I usually go for around 35mm.

Re: down tube protection For me its part of a defective nobby nic.
It offers the best protection also doubles as a clamping point if you have a frame holding type bike rack.
If you have worn out tire, it is free as well.
You can also cut it to a specific shape and with a good pattern tire it is not even that bad looking.

Re: down tube protection I've been using some generic AliExpress chainstay & downtube protectors. Decently thick, but not heavy, and good adhesive backing. Best of all, ridiculously inexspensive!

Re: JH017 grevil/gravel frame set? I don't have any real info to add, just that I went through the same thing when I was researching gravel bikes, I just think the Grevil is so cool.  I ended up deciding that there were no brands that are well-loved by ChinerTown that make it, there's no real reviews on the frame, and it's often a bad idea to buy frame that are direct copy of another (because they may not have done Engineering, just copy the outer geometry and thickness, they may not know the actual layup schedule and material spec).  Too much risk for me, so I went for a Carbonda.
