Re: WheelTop EDS TX Full Wireless Groupset (Chinese SRAM) I haven’t tried yet.  Just using an old Garmin 530.

Went on a 100k group ride yesterday.  Not the fastest group but did a lot of gear changes.  Mostly an endurance ride for me.  The EDS performed pretty well for the most part.  I did encounter two issues that I’m going to address this week.

1:  When I shift in the middle gears of the cassette there is some “noise/clicking” when I shift down.  Its almost like it doesn’t settle into the gear.  However, if I shift past it and then back up it goes away.  I’m going to play with micro adjust feature and see if I can’t fix it.

2:  At about the 80-85k mark the group started surging on a hill.  I was in the middle of the pack and shifted to maintain my cadence and match the group’s speed.  There was a loud metallic “pop” in the back.  I was shifting under load but not putting down crazy power.  I sounded like it came from the cassette.  Now real change in how it was functioning but I was concerned enough that I pulled off the group and rode in with a much smaller group the last 15k.  It shifted fine the rest of the way but I need to inspect the cassette and chainring for any broken teeth.  FWIW, all the components are brand new.  I’m hoping it was just a skipped gear or something.

Re: SL8 Replica Build
Not sure if anyone has found a 600 gram frame, plenty of 800 gram frames though.

normally they will use the smallest raw carbon frame to get the lightest possible weight.

Re: Xiamen Carbon Speed 10 years anniversary special promotion
I just ordered a pair of wheels from peter with the following specs:

D40CU-33 rims T800 version 24/24H UD Matt with assembly holes in the rim bead.
Carbon Speed custom hubs 36T rachets center lock straight pull for 100*12/142*12 with Shimano driver
Pillar 1420 spokes
Pillar aluminum nipples

How much did you pay for them? Not sure why pricing on these is so opaque.

Re: Xiamen Carbon Speed 10 years anniversary special promotion
I'm intereset in the 33mm wide rims.

Does anybody know how a 30mm GP5000 will sit with these 26mm inner width rims? Will it be around 33mm?

I just received my wheels, and put gp 5000 s tr 30 on them, and they sit really in line with the rim.
I can provide measurements and pic tonight(~8h)

Re: Xiamen Carbon Speed 10 years anniversary special promotion I recently came across this post when searching for some gravel wheels and decided to email Peter. Gave him an idea of what I wanted and he emailed me back within a few days with some different options for a custom build. Went with the 40mm deep 26mm inner and 34mm outer, model no. CS-D40CU-33 built with house hubs (ratchet style), 24 Sapim cx-ray spokes and Shimano freehub. Went with no holes in the rim bed for easy tubeless setup and was looking for a sub 1400 gram wheelset. Within about 10 days I received pics of the hoops along with their weight, and within 14 days received pics of the final build along with actual weight of 1349 grams. Received the wheels about 2 weeks later so about a month from the initial order being placed. Setup went easy and I really put them through hell last week on a gravel ride in Vermont and they're still spinning true. Very happy with the purchase and communication from Peter throughout the process. Highly recommended.

Re: Hygge Aero Carbon Frame My usual safety test procedure is to ride down a bumpy descent at about 65km/40mi plus speeds. If I survive all the bumps, cracks and corner braking, the carbon is solid!  ;)

Re: Seraph Bikes Superlight 836g X68 - Alternative to SL8 Fakes? I finished building the TT-X68 already two weeks ago, but it was very busy, so here is my update.

Carbon quality seems really good. I had zero issues with sharp edges or anything similar. The areas for the break mounts were all sanded down really well and also with the BB and the headset I had zero play/issues. The paint quality is so far superb and I'm more than happy TanTan changed there mind on the color customization of this frame.

I use a full Ultegra DI2 Groupset incl. 160mm discs front/rear, except for the crankset. As most of you can tell, I'm using a Magene PES505 in 165mm. In combination with my Novatec R4, some RideNow TPU Tubes and the Pirelli Tires the whole bike is 7152 g. The bottle cages are still in transit, but they will add only about 25g. It's a Size 52.

For my first chinese frame experience, this was quite a good one  ;)

The only thing I do not recommend is the computer mount. I think the angle of this is too steep, but I already found an alternative.
