Rules Thread Rule #1:  The "Classifieds" section is fair game.. Vendors are more than welcome to post threads promoting their brand, frames, and components - But, if you're going to post in other areas of the forum in an attempt to get your sales thread more views (completely understandable and smart) then it needs to be an informative, and helpful post/thread. It needs to serve the community as priority #1 and promote your product as priority #2. Provide details of your products such as geometry measurements, manufacturing process, or just some example builds using said frames/components. Not only does this better serve the community, and keeps the forum free of clutter, but it also serves as better marketing for the seller/vendor. Win, win.

Find Us On Instagram Hey all,

Just getting the Chinertown Instagram profile started, and would appreciate follows and shares.

Find us at this link: https://www.instagram.com/chinertownforum/
Or by searching for user @chinertownforum

Going to use this account as a place to aggregate pics of all of the custom builds on this site. Only have a few posted thus far, but will continue to add them. If you happen to see your build featured and you want your instagram account tagged/credited then just let me know. Also, if for some reason you don't want your pics/build featured at all on the Instagram account, then please just shoot me a message and I'll remove it. That said, I'll message each user here and alert them/ask permission to feature their build on the account.

We'll also use this as a place to announce giveaways and other promotions in the future!

Thanks for reading,
Sitar

Re: 2022 Cervelo S5
Do you think it’s a good idea to get a frame with proprietary parts from a seller that probably infringes patents?

You’re totally right, this frame in particular is quite unique compared to your Velobuild frames. I’m more intrigued than anything else even though I would buy one in a heartbeat.

On the other hand, as a bicycle mechanic and some who used to work at a bike shop, the mark up on high end bikes are a joke and the big companies are taking customers for a ride. If a genuine Cervelo S5 frame was twice the price of the copy I would buy it and so would many others which would pay for the R&D and the engineering fast. Unfortunately the genuine Cervelo is about 5 times the price.

I have enough spares and just need a frame to build a bike up and looking at aero options

If anyone has more info please post!

Re: 2022 Cervelo S5 Jumping in on this thread as a lurker and bike mechanic myself.
To give an example the Tarmac SL7 copies around are painted TFSA JH-33 Frames.
Buying a TFSA frame is considered ok, buying a replica is putting your life at risk.
It's all a bit strange if you ask me  :)

Re: Velobuild VB-R-177
32mm tire clearance is great.

This frame won't clear 32mm tire width.

Re: Replica Factor Ostro VAM
I'll chip in on my Faketor Ostro too.

My frame was marketed as the highest tier amongst the faketor ostro made in chinese factories. I build it up myself with the original spacers and ceramicspeed bb so that people in my group ride don't call me out.

it was easy to build and the carbon layup internally were extremely smooth, not a speck of carbon dust on my frame.
The headset fit perfectly, the bb threaded and fitted snugly and the flat mounts came faced properly (no brake rubs).
For a size 54 full white frame, it came in at around 1054g.  (edited 6 Sep 2024: see photos in later posts)

Re: replica vs open mold discussion QC? I don't think so.

If I'm spending north of $15,000 on a bike, I don't want a single defect anywhere at any point on the bike, but it's just not the case. Time and time again, big name brands are producing rubbish and fleecing their customers. I think the argument is more nuanced than fake=bad, real=good.
