My frameset is ready to be shipped. Let's see how long it takes until it arrives.
It's a size 490 in carbon gloss, not sure if I'll build it up though. But I'll make pictures of the frameset and what came with it.
Why is that?

Tines, what other components did you have to buy? This is my first build so I'm actually not sure which pieces I might be missing.

I'll be ordering the frame and a seat post.

I'm not sure about the headset sizing and dimensions.
Just the usual stuff, I ordered the FSA headset from speeder.
I’ve also bought foam for internal routing to prevent noise but the sc-r-52d apparently has this carbon tube inserted. So let’s see what I get.

I’ll get my disc brake version sometime in the near future. Cannot tell, it’s on its way.
Will post pictures if i have it.

I have prepared more or less everything except frame plugs because I don’t know if I’ll be needing those….

That is a beauty ;)
How was the bb instalation? I am waiting for my Loctite 595 to arrive before proceeding to avoid creaking.
Why do you use 595?
I want to try the BB installation without any retaining compound to see if its fine without (just being optimistic about tolerances I guess).

I also looked at the Park Tool retaining compound and apparently you have to use it with a primer because otherwise you'd end up with permanent adhesion (at least when working with carbon).
As I have not done anything like that before I can't be sure to use the primer correctly, fail somehow and end up with a stuck BB, so I want to avoid going that route.

So they took an Italian word and introduced a typo? Nice
Could also be a misunderstanding when discussing the branding and then just accepted it.

For whatever it's worth...

Speeder is not a factory. It is also not a brand with a factory shareholder/ownership stake. They are an agent, at the mercy of whatever their factory(s) send them.

The frames could be overstock, larger brand QC rejects, factory allotment, or a mixture of all three.

However, when you're just an agent rather than a factory stakeholder...you accept liability for the frames without any recourse to the factory. For example a brand like Specialized or Trek can bully a factory or even take their business elsewhere if the produced frames don't meet the brand's QC. They can simply reject the frames and stop paying the factory.

An agent like Speeder doesn't have that level of power and control. They most likely would have to eat the costs.
And how do you know that ?

There covers are branded , let us know if you find unbrandend ones.

They haven’t responded to my inquiries, may have slipped through but didn’t give me much confidence regarding possible after sales support. Your mileage may vary.

So your issue is more around proprietary parts rather than the patent infringment?
The more a brand invests time and money to establish a reputation the more I’m fine with proprietary parts.
Regarsing patents - personally I wouldn’t ride the velobuild 218 or frames in general with unique designs. The 168 and sl7 for me isn’t that much of an issue because it doesnt look too different to many other road bike frames (at least from a glance…)
But that’s just me  of course , i think everyone can do whatever they want with the money.

I do Not think you necessarily put your life at risk,
There might be lower quality but my issue would be that it’s not economical or ecological if you have to throw the bike in the trash if you can’t get parts for it easily.
(Personal preference of course as I am also dependent on the manufacturer for the fork when it comes to the Chinese carbon frame I’ll receive next month. But yeah. I just wanted to point this out. I also have an aeroad and the fact that you can’t exchange parts on the cockpits drives me nuts sometimes. But Canyon will probably still be around if i really need replacements …)

this whole forum is pretty much dedicated to this.
I don’t know about the other sections in this forum but I have the impression that many threads in the road section are about vendors that have more or less established their own brand identity with frames that are similar to main stream frames.
With those brands you have a higher chance of getting spares down the road.
Getting replacement parts like fork is probably always hard if the vendor vanishes or doesn’t offer that part anymore but you can still use other stems/handlebar combos. And I think that is the main disadvantage.
I often read posts about the  flexibility of chinese carbon handlebars, so if you’re not satisfied with the one supplied what are you gonna do? Buy one from cervelo for 400?  (Just a guess)

So no, intuitively i don’t think it’s the same.

Do you think it’s a good idea to get a frame with proprietary parts from a seller that probably infringes patents?

Received the frame.

Extremely happy with the finish of the paint, the appearance of the carbon inside the frame. Getting it built next week so I’ll report ride quality and maybe post pic of completed build.

So far it’s exceeded my expectations so I hope the ride does too.
Great to hear! Also slightly ahead of schedule. Did they communicate with you prior or just informed you that the frame is done and will be shipped next?

Nope not same seller but via aliexpress for 3.   Sellers for the cr51(aethos copy/onirii frame) the airwolf/cwind sellers. The speed cycle wheels.
The tideance gravel frame. This frame at least was nicely done and came with everything. It still pinches cables like other hidden cable frames.

So that's 3 frames and 1 wheelset off the top of my head.
It just not safe dealing with ali sellers for large purchases. You pay with $100+ shipping then they message you saying send us 30-40% more shipping. They hide behind Ali when they mess up either from pricing, missing parts, or just unusable. I know velo has high shipping to me but at least I can see that before hand.

I'm still dealing with a issue and don't want to talk about it til finish.

I'm still not happy how elite wheels dealt with me on the bearing/hub issue.  I am glad I worked with sigma but elite let me down. Was it fixed? Even if the hub never warps anymore the hub needs specially milled bearings now. There was a new revised hub available but they refused to replace it.
Is it speede cycle or speeder cycling? You ordered a wheelset there?

Nice! Did they state end of December on your invoice?
105 di2 should be absolutely fine. I went for the same groupset.

I honestly Haven’t noticed a big difference between my triban rc520 round tube Alu bike compared to the canyon aeroad.
Guess I’m not too sensitive about things like that.
I noticed the difference in efficiency however.
