for 800.00(for set) - are the DT 240's all that?
even at 400.00+(for set) - are the DT 350's all that?

Do you further have to pay for the 36 p.o.e. ring - or is that only for the 350's?

I think the black will look better.
The white will become the focal point unless you add graphics or something(which should be the focal), soooo....I see your bike and start looking at the fork because it is jumps out being white.

Is that crack all the way through?
I would put some tape of some kind on there to keep it from grabbing my clothes...depending on bad it is.

Jake,
For your brakes, I would disconnect at the lever(leave current olive and piece....run that through, shouldn't lose any fluid...then look to cut the cable down.
Which XTR brakes did you go with?  Have you used them before?

If you are in the market for Shimano XTR parts, I suggest you look at merlincycles.com

I am pretty sure the post mount bolts need to M6 - you would want 10mm.

I would get with Airborne about their headset size.
These(chinese frames), as has been said many times over, use a 'campy' style....size IS42 top and IS52 bottom

It is understood that the expander plug is for the carbon forks - a suspension fork you would be using the old starnut.  It is because of the steerer tube, the expander plug supports the carbon.

Component Deals & Selection / Re: BikeHubStore.com Hubs?

I have the older models and they work good - the wheel builder I used(lucky spoke, austin) used them for himself and didn't have anything bad to say about them.
I say mine are the old because BHS has gone to the convertible ones now...mine are 15mm up front and 142mmx12mm out back.
I think the DT240s are a step up though.  My initial impression, is that DT350s are closer to BHS hubs.
I had mine built with 32 hole Crest's and cx laser spokes - came out a around 1520g for the set.  Should be fairly stable with 32 spokes even though it is lightweight rims.

carbon failures can happen and do for ALL the manufactures
chinese carbon, that I know of, hasn't failed anymore than any other brands.
actually, the cheaper chinese has had more manufacturing 'defects' that aren't failures
there are also failures for metal bikes...meaning, sounds like you are still using an older Huffy....as long as you aren't riding it hard it is probably safe...but if you had been riding it on hard trails and such...could be in the same boat
The Huffy's of the world weren't made for much more than trail use and, again, if used for more than that....things will break.
Overall, the beauty of chinese carbon is that it is cheap enough to let it go when it's useful life is done, whatever that may be.

shorter cage provides crisper shifts
but, depending on your drivetrain, 2x10 40/28 and 11-36 I needed a long cage....big chainring - sm chainring + big cog - sm cog = total teeth....then look up manufacturers ranges for their rear derailleur

After The Ride / Re: What kind of riding do you do?
« on: July 14, 2014, 09:57:08 AM »
I am more into the AM, XC and racing.  These frames being so light, that is, to me, what they are for.  My weakness would be climbing...most are short here.  The racing season here is in the Spring and Fall(Austin, TX area) - I have the 057 frame bought last year but would have gotten the 256 if it had been out.  I do AM with my bike and things have been fine.
Otherwise, group rides which seem to stop every 100 yards or so.
I am with ya on the upgradeitis - gotta control that even if something is a 'deal'.

29er / Re: Run derailleur housing through 56/57 frame?
« on: July 13, 2014, 06:55:14 AM »
The main issue was a different frame back when(LTK023) and can this link has a summary:  http://forums.mtbr.com/29er-bikes/how-drill-out-cable-stops-ltk-023-frame-865668.html
I am not sure if anybody has had an issue on the 56/57 - was wondering as I thought there might have one person who went ahead and did it.
