Component Deals & Selection / Re: Chinese forks
« on: November 10, 2022, 04:26:49 PM »
I mean isn't that kind of the risk with just about anything we talk about on this forum

Not necessarily. Most chinese mtb frames have come to the point where if built up competently, you can trust it won't fall apart after one hard trail ride.
Chinese forks just haven't got to that point yet. Subpar materials or craftsmanship in chinese forks means they're not ready for the abuse of real trail riding. Suntour, Xfusion, and low end Rockshox are still the best budget forks. Reliable and serviceable.

Maybe I’m blind, but I couldn’t find anything on the Ingrid website or socials that indicate where they are made.

I did find this one 30mm spindle version, but only one chainring size.  :-\

Thank to all, so precious!
Nexties seems outstanding but also more expensive- expecially with the currect exchange rate usd/eur.
I will try BTLOS amd will keep you posted.
Thanks agaian!

I bought some btlos wheels and am very satisfied with the wheels and shopping experience. If I did it all over again, I would've saved up a little more for nicer hubs.

I hear they're ok. I would choose mt200 because if needed shimano replacement parts are easy to find and easy to work with. My bike 2020 Cannondale Habit came with mt200s and they're been perfect with no issues. Highly recommend.

Whats your budget?
Does it absolutely have to be 12s?

Sensah and Ltwoo have 12s options on Aliexpress but they have very mixed reviews on youtube. To my knowledge, there is no chinese derailleur with a clutch. I wouldn't ride without one, but it may not be a big deal for you.

If it doesn't have to be 12s, Microshift Advent X is a good affordable option. I think I'd go with Sram SX before going with a chinese groupset for mtb.

As far as brakes go, you can find super cheap mt200 on Ali and eBay. Meroca also seem to have a good reputation, but I have no personal experience.

Given that the factory bearings aren't great to begin with, should I push them for replacements, or just go ahead and order higher quality replacements? I'm still waiting on rims and need to order spokes, so no hurry yet.

Why bother with replacements that are potentially just as bad? I’d suggest getting the higher quality bearings for peace of mind.

Nice! Just watched it. He did mention some kind of tensioner on the gravel rd. Not sure if its an actual clutch or a tensioner similar to Sensah. Price sounds pretty fantastic. I'll definitely be holding off on a gravel build until this gets on Ali...after the first wave of kinks are worked out.

I'm not usually into blatant knockoffs, but that raw finish on the ingrid crankarms is nice. If they had smaller chainrings, I'd think about it for a gravel build.

I can see the vids on mobile, but not on desktop.
Thats a lot of flex. Hope you can get it sorted without having to buy a new rear triangle.

After about a year with the ZTTO brakes, I must say they are really bad. I have changed the pads to metal a long time ago and that did give some improvement, but nowadays the brakes are simply dangerous. Yesterday there were 2 times during a ride I was afraid I would miss a corner because the brakes were so bad...

I am fed up with the ZTTO brakes and have now ordered the Onirii BR-05 brakes. These should be an improvement over the old BR-02 brakes. Will keep you updated when they get here...

Thanks for the update. This is the type of long term performance info we need!

I guess it's the version you are asking for.. it's black.

The teeth profile on the small sprockets does look improved on this one. Nice to know they’re willing to improve their product.

Are there any differences claimed in the latest version that would make them worthwhile?

Interesting.   I notice the lack of thumb up-shifting on the gravel set (unless I am missing it). Contrasting to that is the oversized thumb lever on the RX shifters.
I wonder what the shifting action will be…unless anyone has insight

I think since they're strictly 1x the thumb shifter is not present on the left shifter.

Metal Frames / Re: Tsunami Seaboard GR02 Budget Gravel Build
« on: October 06, 2022, 02:57:26 PM »
The Seaboard frame comes with a carbon fiber fork: https://tsunamibicycle.com/product/gr02-gravel-frameset-alu-alloy-disc-brake-thru-axle-black/

Some of the build pics and videos online show a smooth fork without attachment points. Most Ali listings however show forks with mounting points. I wonder if the one with mounting points the new stock fork or do you have to specify which one you want?

Wow. That bearing seat in the headtube looks awful. Not confidence inspiring at all.
