Why not down country with a little bit of suspension?

I am building an FM909. I am enquiring what people think would be the best down-country tires for this bike. A compromise between reasonably light weight, good rolling resistance. and decent descent characteristics.

Super reply.

Thanks. The bearings look like the way to go.

I am wondering what shock spacers do I need in order to install a Rock Shox trunnion mount shock on this frame?

If your Super Deluxe is a 205x60 Metric Trunnion, you should be all set with the supplied trunnion bolts and eyelet bolt. Though I upgraded my eyelet bolt to a 40mm BetterBolts Transition shock bolt and have been very happy with it.

I just got a Rock Shox trunnion mount shock. But the eyelet does not match the bolt that came with the bike. What else do I need for spacers or bolts exactly to get this to work? Thanks

I am enquiring to which down tube protection systems people prefer on their carbon frames.

I just received an FM909 frame. I was deciding between the FM936 and FM909. For a similar performing frame, the FM909 was lighter. Identical geometry between the two frames. And I think the horizontal shock linkage in a Horst Link is often a more progressive leverage ratio than the vertical shock linkage. It probably depends on whether you prefer a slightly progressive, or a slightly linear/ regressive leverage ratio at the bottom of the stroke. Then there is the look of the bike to factor in. To me they were about the same as far as eye appeal.

Thanks a lot. I had to order a new and different shock. I was raiding another bike for a lot of the parts for this one. Hoping to use the old shack I had. But it didn't work out.

Looking good. I have an FM 1002 to post in a week or so when the last of the parts arrive.

I am wondering what bolt and bushings I need to mount a Rock Shox Super Deluxe rear shock to the FM1002 frame.I think I am ok with the top bolt and bushings. But I don't have a way to mount the bottom connector.  And where might I purchase them. Thanks.

Man, bike building is an addiction. I bought a 936 frame that I WAS going to make a budget XC racer reusing a lot of parts off my current bike, but that evolved into buying all new parts for it. So now I'm debating buying one of these frames to actually reuse the older parts and make something with more travel to better handle local trails..... jeez down the rabbit hole I go...

So happy another has joined the club. I am building an FM909 from scratch little by little as I acquire the parts. And simultaneously swapping out various parts on hand to make an FM1002. So at least you are not alone in your excesses.

Maybe a slightly longer eye to eye rear shock. And even a Slack-R for the front if you want to make the short travel bike more aggressive. Although eventually you are defeating the purpose of the bike.

I am putting together parts for an FM909 frame which is on the way. I have found a Fox shock which is 42.5mm x165mm. Can this fit the frame? Or is it limited to the 40mm x 165mm shock?
