How are your bikes coming along? hoping for some feedback....
Cheers

They are in transit, I'll let you know.

...Pinkbike just released a video series on YouTube covering "Downcountry Bikes" from Scott, Trek, Specialized, Santa Cruz, etc. ...

Do you mind to put the link of that video?

I almost watched that one entirely, but didn't get that downcountry information you mentionned, just comparing some brands.

It is not common that Hambini makes a extremely positive review of a frame.
The ICAN A22 passed the test with flying colors.

I guess they knew what they were doing, and extra machined the BB, the brake mounts, etc...
But in any case, I never worked with them, but will try for sure in the future.

Why Minions on an XC bike to start with, and especially if you're counting grams?

To shed half a kilo next summer  ;D

The new geometry is Long slack low.
Longer reach.
Slacker head tube (and fork)
Lower BB.

I moved from years of 29er hardtails with 90mm, 100mm forks to an FM936.
The big changes are the above geometry, a full suspension and a dropper post.
And 10kg of bike instead of ~8.

I have much more fun now, especially on descents.
Harsh climbs are easier too, with suspension always fully open.
And not being as beaten up after long rides is priceless.
Especially for multi days events.

I've ordered two of these: http://chinertown.com/index.php/topic,3366.msg32282.html#msg32282
As it was a more modern geometry, they should be in painting right now, not yet shipped.

I know Haideli have some issue with the AM831 debacle.
But I did order them few frames 4/5 years ago, and they are still fine.
And they are good to deal with.

...That just shouldn't happen.
Welcome in the world of single-use Chinese bolts  ;D
We should list all the bolts, and find reliable alternative ones.
I've ordered a bolt kit, and will measure them when they arrive.

Maybe a dumb question, but how do I run the cables using the white tubes that come in the frame?  Am I supposed to tape the cable to the tube and pull or push the inner cable into the tube and then replace the tube with outer cable?
If you can pass the hose in that tube, then once out, pull the tube out.
If not, taping them is an option. Don't pull too much as you may detach it.
Just push the hose, and lightly pull the tube as a guide and not as a force.

Sorry if this has been asked before but thoughts on normal vs superlight?

what did you choose. carbon layup better on the superlight?

I was on a quest for a super light bike, so shedding some grams on everything is a must.
Otherwise it is probably not worth the cost.

...If you feel better...
Would you show your purple color? I am curious

Thanks! I feel so much better.

Here are some pictures of my FM936
http://chinertown.com/index.php/topic,2079.msg26737.html#msg26737

I didn't want it purplish
And didn't want the bottom in black either ( although I may have contributed to make that mistake ).

But it ride fast and nicely, and many people tell me it looks great, so I forgot about it, until your pictures  ;)

And then a daylight photo of the colour. Artificial light makes it appear almost black.

I'm jealous, this is exactly the blue I wanted ( like TREK bikes ) and got a purple one instead  ;D

1. was the frame in "XL" around the 2200g...
2. the bore of the rear end was not 12.0mm, it was 12.70 - 12.80mm
3. the distance at the linkage was on the lower side 22.2mm on the upper side 23.0mm

Did you contact them about that ?

1) There are some more carbon on the XL  :D, and I don't remember seeing here someone asking officially what size is the announced weight and what parts that includes.

2) Is it 12.7 a problem ?
If I remember well, the hanger is the nut, the axle just passing through the frame.

3) Do you mean where the shock is mounted ?

Then he did a video of the first ride where he really dislikes it. His conclusion is that it's the worst bike he has ever ridden ::)
Even if a frame looks good, a "chiner" will never have the ride feeling of branded engineered frame.

Two issues at the same time, he took a Trifox, and he's probably not reading chinertown  ;D

...
1 -  is this  configuration good,  140 back and 160mm front .
2 -  Do you have a seller or brand you recommend on Aliexpress ?
...

1) I tried 140/140 for a while, for emergency braking the front is a little short.
Even with my 68kg, a 160mm is a must for me now.
Even with the weight penalty ::)

2) Deckas makes good and colorful floating rotors, I've been using them on my gravel for a year or two.
However they are only ISO( 6 bolts ), and you would need a CL adapter.
Thus adding an interface, with its potential issues.

I would be careful with elita. I have exactly this design with more material around the screwing for my gravel. For this usage it works very nice, also i am flyweight.  But there are a lot complains about broken Elita seatposts. Although this is referring mostly to the design with less carbon on the clamping.

Thanks for the information.
I did notice some wear of my Elita seatpost on a Canyon Ultimate where the inner clamping presses.
And changed it. I will check more regularly that part then.
