Welcome to Chinertown.. Looks like you've caught the "build another chiner even though I just built one" bug that's going around, lol. I currently have plans for two separate chiners. Don't "need " either one lol. It's just if you buy all Chinese carbon, the price is very reasonable. Makes owning multiple sweet full carbon rides a reality for a lot of guys/gals.

Just curious why you're going 1x9 rather than 1x10?

Looking forward to following your build thread!

Very nice. How much did you pay for the Niner fork if you don't mind me asking? And do you feel that the quality is superior to the chiner version?

If you're in Arizona, you're welcome to come over and play with my new toys.

Hahaha... And if was in Arizona I absolutely would! Pumped to see the wheels. Def living vicariously through you right about now!

also what are you doing for frame protection? stays and downtube? clear tape?

I'm also interested to hear what guys are using to protect their chiner frames. Fat bike or otherwise.

:o  It's Christmas! And I'm the jealous younger brother, lol. Exciting to have all of that affordable chiner goodness arrive, I bet.

Awesome thread, doing three builds at once. Will def be following along.

Peter said 45 day for production on the frame if I want 3k gloss or matte.

3k weave is my favorite as well, but I prob just opt for the UD matte before waiting the 45 days. That said, I'm impatient and 45 days really isn't that long, especially if you already have a bike that you're riding.

Where are you getting the pinstriping done? What color scheme? Def post pics of that.

It is a bit confusing..

 - First, there was the 056 with QR, and the 057 was the through axle version.

 - Then, it went to just the 057 and you could choose between QR and though-axle.

 - But, the 056 still hangs around as the exact frame as to confuse people.

At least, I think that's the case. Lol.

Finally! Some action for the fatty lovers among us! ;D Looking forward to your chiner fat bike build. Been contemplating one of my own for about 2 months now, so will def be following your build thread.

I have the same indecision about the fork.. rigid or the Bluto. I think, due to fat bikes being a bit heavier anyways, and having more cushion in the tyre, that I'm going to go with the rigid fork at first and later on I can sell it and upgrade to the Bluto if I feel it's needed.

As for hubs, Hope is basically the standard, so that will most likely be the route I take.

Ah ok, thanks kokos. You're right it's a pretty much exact copy. Not that that's a bad thing. Will check out the reviews for the corvus frame then. I can't tell if this pic is a digital image or an actual pic of the frame, something looks different about it. Either way, the Corvus is the obvious inspiration here. Let me rephrase then, this looks like a high quality replica. I'm glad the chiners are looking more like the high end originals. Now if the full suspension frames would just do the same (pivots, bearings, joints, etc)

Be sure to post up pics of the build and frame when you get it if you don't mind. Very interested in seeing it.

hmm I'm pretty surprised that the DT hubs weigh less than a set of carbon ones. Pretty impressive. I guess DT hubs seem to be the way to go for best bang for your buck performance. Or that seems to be the consensus at least.

Hey cuora,

Maybe it's early or I'm just slow but I don't quite understand the question? You mean will the 19 inch in actuality be a bigger frame than say a 19 inch 057 frame for example? Or are you asking if there are going to be more sizes available in these frames soon?

Answer to the forst one is no, and the answer to the second one is yes. I probably still didn't answer your question but I tried lol.

Welcome to Chinertown! Looks like it will be a sweet build. And don't stress the actual building part, it is fairly easy so long as you have the right tools for the job.

Looking forward to seeing the build. Never heard of the IP-106 though. I thought there was originally just the 056, and then the 057 that made the 142x12mm rear axle the standard but didn't know anything about a 106 with external cable mounts.

What kind of issues are people having with the internal cabling on the 057?

Also, as far as the ZEE is concerned, I've read it's one of Shimano's best mechs to date so nice choice and at a price you can't really beat too.

That's what I've been wanting. 19" IP-010.

I gotta say, looks like you guys did a great job on this frame, Peter! These frames are looking more and more refined with each new production it seems. Good job. The lines on the frame, the angles around the head tube, and on the top tube, and the way the top tube curves, make for an awesome looking frame and bike! Can't wait!

Time to go check the fat bike rim thread again..

Not bad, a little lighter than XT(600g front and rear) - looks like 355g - 95g for disc for 260g a side(520g total)
More than anything, the price is great...how good are they...anybody want to post how they like them?

I've used both the XTs and the Hayes fairly extensively.

Honestly, they are both about equal as far as performance imo. Where the Shimanos shine is their ease of maintenance and set-up, but if you're wanting the lightest you can get.. and don't mind dialing in your brakes maybe a bit more, the Strokers are pretty awesome. Especially at such a good price. If I needed brakes, I'd prob jump on this deal.

That said, I'm a bit of a weight weenie so take that into consideration.

Voted Android.

Apple's software is very nice and "seamless" if that makes sense, but they are closed platform so innovation seems to take longer. I'm a pretty big tech fan. Here's Google's latest I/O conference - Watch the vid if you get a chance. Good stuff.

Funny stat from the vid:

93 million selfies are taken on Android phones daily
30 million of those are duck faces

I have never taken a selfie or a pic with a duck face. lol.

They are launching the Android One phone, a smart phone for under a hundred bucks, and they are aiming them directly at countries like India, Africa, etc. How big will the Google monster grow.
