Re: Pulled the trigger on the Elite Wheel DRIVE wheelset I'm another one waiting for the reviews to pop up before buying.

Interestingly elite agreed to sell of wheel depths, eg. 40 front/50 rear.... Something that winspace don't offer, but I'm very keen on. If winspace did 38/50 depth packages I would have purchased some time ago.

An Elite email today told me that dark coloured decals will be available from June, and it is an option to specify silver or black hubs.

Re: Pulled the trigger on the Elite Wheel DRIVE wheelset Hambini has kinda reviewed the wheels, depending on how you view Hambini's opinion it's somewhat interesting.  Unfortunately, when comparing against Winspace, he is comparing different depths, so you can't tell if the wheel design or wheel depth drives the differences.

Good news is that the quality seems to be on a par with the other similar brands.

Re: Pulled the trigger on the Elite Wheel DRIVE wheelset Peak Torque has also posted his review on youtube.

Again, doesn't say too much that others haven't. Wheels seem sound.  If you're on the fence between Winspace and Elite then there doesn't seem to be much difference, other than Winspace have had better social media publicity for longer. Elite seem to have been making wheels just as long, but less social media marketing until how (from what I see), although there is evidence in the hub revisions that Elite may still be ironing out minor wrinkles with this new Drive model.

Gravel Build help, please Hey, so I have started my Gravel build, or started buying parts.  I plan the following, with a number of questions:

  • Waltly Ti frame - I'm going with their standard 2022 gravel frame. My main decision now is cabling:
    • all external cables - easy maintenance
    • all internal cables
    • external gear cables with internal brake hoses

  • Lun Grapid 650b wheels with 2.1 Btway tires - Already purchased
  • 1x drive train, but here is the issue. I would like mechanical gears with hydraulic brakes, however, looking at Sensah and Ltwoo they don't have hydraulics yet.
I like the idea of the Sensah shifting, not too sure about the Ltwoo thumb shifting - personal preference, I'm coming from Shimano
          Looking at some options:
    • Go with cable actuated hydraulic brakes, eg. Juin GT-F because Sensah and Ltwoo don't offer hydraulic.
    • I see Sensah SRX Pro 1x12 groupset on Aliexpress but didn't know Sensah had a 12 speed gravel groupset - anyone tried this or can vouch for it?
    • I see Ltwoo have Gravel groupsets coming in 12 speed with hydraulic.....someone said ETA of September but I don't see anything
    • Sensah I've seen mention hydraulic but by end 2022 - I don't want to wait 3 months

I'm interested in people thoughts about the 'external' v 'internal', and which groupset and brakes to go for.  1x12 would be my preferred option

Re: Gravel Build help, please Thanks for the input... annoying that I'm doing this just before the Sensah and Ltwoo hydraulic groupsets are released. The option of the cable actuated hydraulic Juin Teck GT-F's is an interesting option (external cables could be neater than external hoses), but there is a price to pay for the GT-F model.

I will also look out for discounted or second hand Sram groupsets, but my budget is very very tight after buying the wheels, frame and powrlink pedals.  I'm trying to build a light titanium gravel bike for USD $2,500. I'm already at $1,600 for the frame and wheels.

eeSilk Suspension stem on Aliexpress What do you make of this https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005094735886.html

Amazing how quickly something gets copied, regardless of the quality of the copy.

Re: Gravel Bars (Carbon vs Alloy) (Flared vs Regular) I initially went with a flared carbon bar from Aliexpress.  Challenge was trying to get the shifters not to slip without crushing the carbon bars.  Ended up changing them for Ritchey Beacon allow flared bars.  Much easier to tighten shifters and have no worry about the materials..... plus the weight and cost saving wasn't so significant.

Re: Onirii carbon cranks
Yeah they look, spin and feel great when pedaling.....

Thanks for the info, strangely my Rival 1 crankset is a 24mm spindle, so these should fit perfectly but I will dble check.  My Rival 1 crank with chainset is 920g, so this'd be a big weight saving. AUD $200 to save 500g seems like a worthy investment.

Interesting on the Shimano crank arm, I just sold a DA stages PM and moved to speedplay PM....  Almost a shame I can't get this raceworks crank with a PM built in..... but then I'd need a bigger spending budget.

Thanks again.

Re: [Q]Comfortable Long ride Gravel Frame. I wanted a gravel/touring frame.  Spent a bit more money and got a Titanium frame from Waltly.  I love it, running 650b x 47 & 50mm tyres.  Suitable for medium speed roadie group rides and gravel/fire trail riding. Will be a super touring bike when I get some 700 wheels (on order from Speeder Cycling)  Again, cost more than a Chinese carbon frame, but should last a long time, and still much less expensive than from a local Titanium bike brand

Re: Elite Edge Wheels
....Full weight with GP5000 28mm and TPU inner tubes 1619g.

That is crazy light, tyres and tubes must be 550g, making the wheels just ~1,070g.

I've gone with Speeder Cycling wheels direct which are a similar weight, but I was anticipating a full weight with tyres of close to 1,900g
