Anyone read or hear anything on this frame? I'm thinking about building up a FS towards the end of summer. There are so many choices out now. :o 8)

Component Deals & Selection / e*thirteen TRS cassette
« on: November 06, 2015, 03:20:50 PM »
If you have an XD compatible wheel and want to switch to 1x...this may be the cassette to get.

The 11sp version is 9-44 and the 10sp ver is 9-42.

I have a 30T with a 11-42 10sp Response cassette. With the e13 cassette for example, I can drop to a 28T and have more low and more high than with my 30T/11-42. Seems like a win, win situation when it comes to gearing. The other benefit is the cassette is modular. It comes in three parts and the three parts can be purchased individually as they wear.  :D

I have no idea on cost (lol...that can be the killer :-X). I haven't the cost posted anywhere. Should be available by the end of the year or early 2016.

Component Deals & Selection / Why buy headsets?
« on: September 01, 2015, 09:04:59 PM »
I've been noticing that a lot of people are purchasing new headsets. Why do that when your frame comes with a perfectly functioning one? Its just two bearings. Even if they do go bad...it's a 10 minute job to change out new ones. From what I see...there is a huge markup when the bearings are sold as a headset vs the bearings alone. The job of the headset isn't a difficult one. There isn't too much bling to get out of it (at least the internal ones). When I put my 062 together, I used the FSA headset that came with my two year old Specialized. I don't see me needing to switch it out anytime soon. I'm just waiting for Ceramicspeed to put out some 300 dollar ceramic headset bearings. ::)

29er / Durability of top coat?
« on: May 15, 2015, 09:48:03 PM »
I've got about 5 to 6 rides on my frame...and I've started to notice some small stone chips. Mostly on the chainstay area behind the bottom bracket. They are on the top and bottom of the chainstay. The finish on the frame don't seem to be too durable? I've been cutting up stickers I have laying around to cover up that area. This is only about a handful of rides in on a new frame. I hate to see what it would look like with no frame protection of any kind after a few months. I've also used some "Shimano" stickers I have to temporarily cover the bottom of the downtube of the frame. I can hear the rocks hitting the downtube when I'm hauling down hill.

Are you matte finish guy noticing lots of stone chips on the frame?

Are painted frames or gloss finishes more durable?

29er / Workswell WCB-M-062

Has anybody heard of or have any experience with this frame? Looks like they give you three different BB options. Good thing is that they use a 27.2 post. I really don't want to give up or buy a new P6 Hiflex post. The 100mm headtube length (17in) seems reasonable too as the front end won't be super high. They are also claiming a ~1050gr weight.

Putting my SLX crank up for sale. It comes with a Race Face 30T narrow/wide chainring. Its got about 50 hours of riding on it. Comes with the bottom bracket. I cannot for the life of me find the original rings.

The cranks come with the normal wear and tear of used cranks. Its got some scratches on the ends of the arms...some scratches on the sides of the arms. All pretty typical. There are some smaller scratches that are not showing up in the picture. Good thing is that you don't have to worry about getting that first scratch on them! :P  Overall still in good shape.

100 shipped, including Paypal fee.

29er / FR-225 and IP-106?
« on: August 04, 2014, 06:24:40 PM »
Does anybody have any information besides what Google tells me? I can't seem to find any builds or reviews on it. This frame will allow me to swap all my parts over to it. Mostly the 27.2 Specialized CG-R post. I really like that thing. The look of the frame is kinda growing on me...humpback and all.  ;D

Also on the IP-106...I can't seem to find a Geo chart that doesn't give me a headache. :o Is there a standard geo chart floating around somewhere? One thats not a blueprint looking one. From what I found...the head tube in a medium is 120mm? That is super tall. That would put my bars up like a chopper.

Thanks!

29er / Real nice build from Weight Weenines
« on: June 09, 2014, 03:44:38 PM »
Nice n light build. He weighed each part. Some are higher end weight weenie parts. 18.71lbs! I guess the money saved on the frame allowed him to put the money towards more expensive parts.

29er / Internal or external?
« on: June 04, 2014, 05:04:37 PM »
I'm doing my research on the China carbon frame at the moment. I've narrowed them down to either the FR-225 (Geo is fairly close to my Spesh) or the IP-256SL. Main thing drawing me to the 256SL is the weight. Both of these frames seem to have internal cable routing. Having a Cervelo S2...I know how much of a pain internal routing can be.

How are these frames routed for internal cables? Is is a massive pain to route the cables? The inside of my Cervelo is fairly smooth and has internal routing so the cables run through fairly smooth...but still a pain to fish out of the openings.

thanks!
