Elio motors

Hi Guys,

Has anyone heard of this new vehicle?  84mpg and it is projected to cost $6800 and only require motorcycle insurance.  Supposed to be in production Sept 2015.

Looks very interesting!
Andy. :)

P.S.  Received my 2 XMIplay frames the other day but I'm on vacation and won't build for a couple weeks.

Hmmm...Very cool. I'd totally get one of those.

I could see a lot of Americans turning to something like this to cut expenses.

I like it.  If I my 3rd garage bay didn't already have a motorcycle & mountain bikes in it, I might order one today.

Advantages over my motorcycle:
84 mpg
672 mile range
seats two
stay dry when in the rain
air conditioning to keep you cool
safer than a motorcycle

Advantages of my motorcycle:
Fun to ride
110 hp, hits 60mph in first gear, in less than 3 seconds

Hmmm, the motorcycle is fun but the Elio is compelling.  However, they would need to double the HP, at a slight loss of mpg of course, for me to really be interested.

Thanks for your input guys.  I put a $100 down payment on one to reserve a spot in line.  They haven't even set up their factory or hired their employees yet but are scheduled to begin production Sept of next year.  They have delayed production date several times.  One thing for sure it's gonna be a long while if ever.

Well congrats, man.. That will be super fun (and efficient) to own and drive. Sucks to have to wait that long though. You guys have way more patience than I do, lol.

And sorry of you've already posted it somewhere... but which two frames did you get?

hi SN,

I got the 27.5 hard tail and the 29" full squish IP036 from Peter(great guy) at XMIPLAY.  I sold the 27. 5 to a customer(I work in a bike shop) to help finance my 29er build.

I'm on vacation now but will start building when I get home next week.  The theme of the build is budget build and I'm gonna build it as reasonable as possible.  Gotta save money toward my new Elio motors.  :)

Thanks SN...have a great day!
Andy. :)

Andy, the Elio looks really cool.  Like you said, it might be a while but I'm really interested in seeing the vehicle go into production.

Yes CD it will be great if it goes into production...we'll see.  All it would need is a light aero trailer hooked up and I could take my camping stuff and Chiner and travel to lots of trails for dirt cheap!  Come on Elio!
