A big part of build vs buy is of course component selection.  The Shimano parts on 007Bike on aliexpress has high ratings... are these legit Shimano parts??

The prices are similar to what you see in Europe. Most European shops won't ship to the US but a few will: BikeInn and Lordgun will in my experience. I got a legit XT 8100 group set from BikeInn in about the same ballpark so it seems plausible and the reviews look good.

These are likely Shimano OEM overstock. Genuine Shimano parts, but if something is defective you probably can't claim warranty.

These are really good prices. If legit then I'll likely pull the trigger on an XT 12-speed group. Thanks for sharing.

Merlin in the UK still ships OEM Shimano to the US as well-ordered a full Ultegra Di2 groupset from them last month on Wednesday, received Monday morning with UPS and so far no invoice for customs duties.

I bought an M7000 drivetrain from 007Bike a while back. Its all legit, (shipped fast too) but nothing has a serial number. This is due to some sort of restriction on the Chinese selling shimano parts or something.

I just got a full 12 speed shimano groupset in about three weeks. The price is going to be hard to beat and the items all arrived. I don't have a frame to put these on yet but hopefully I will get my custom Waltly ti frame soon! I also ordered soem BTLOS wheels for this bike.

I decided to dip my big toe in and ordered a Shimano IceTech rotor from them.  Total was about $32 shipped.  Cheaper than the ~$50 I see at most of the 'normal' sites.  But also not that cheap.  We'll see how it goes.

My rotor arrived in less that 10 days. Not in OEM packaging, but it appears to be legit Shimano stuff.  If it's not legit, it's one of the best knocked jobs I've seen. Stickers, laser markings, tools marks all match my existing Shimano rotors. I'll mount it up this week and try it out.
